I read Dianetics like 30 years ago. The dude was crazy as a shit house rat. He railed against psychiatrists (mainly because of frontal lobotomy--which okay is rather crude), then explained a method of removing engrams from peoples minds, which sounded exactly like what psychoanalysis did. You had to be cleared by clear, which I assume stated with him. I never could figure out what was so different than psychoanalysis. I guess the faith part comes from believing it will "work." |
