In 1976, when my family moved to Virginia, we had reached Atlanta. The car was full of moving shit that didn't make the truck. I was 10 years old.

My mom had a torquise green plastic colander. A middle aged black man pulled along side us and I put the colander on my head. The man kept giving me double takes and kind of eased away from our car while my sister laughed her head off.

I don't think you should disqualify colanders so easily. People see you wear a colander and they give you a wide berth.
