Honest question OP. Can you look down and see your feet ?  You are ruining your health and at increased risk of a heart attack.

I sure can.  I think maybe some people are misinterpreting what 'dad bod' is (or heck, maybe I am).  This, is not dad-bod.

This - is.  At least to me.

I know we all hate the gun/vet bro clothing, but the fit of the shirts is perfect for what OP describes. That's why I like the shirts so much. I like the Zero Foxtrot stuff but some of the subdued Grunt Style shirts are nice too. Hides my gut while bulking perfectly.

This. Was once a fat boy, then I was a fat dad. When my youngest was little I decided I didn’t want my kids growing up thinking being fat and sloppy was an appropriate way to go through life so I cleaned my shit up.

At 5’10 160lb I’m healthier, more mobile, more flexible, and happier. When I was 275 I was a fat piece of shit with no discipline or future.

Don’t be fat, don’t drown your organs in alcohol, and stop filling your gut with corn byproducts and chemicals. You’ll live longer maybe.

My gym shirts are tapered.  They fit perfectly so I look for t-shirts with the same body taper.

The days of buying a pack of shirts off the rack are over for me.  Dress shirts, jackets, vests, and pants have to be tried on before buying.

When I was 85-90lbs overweight, nothing fit right so I went a size bigger.

4 years later I'm at 9.5% bf and lift 5 days a week.  Nothing fits well because shirts/pants are designed for fatties.  I have to buy athletic cut shirts and jeans.  Suit pants have to be tailored.

If I were you, I'd start looking at athleisure brands: freefly, vuori, Lululemon, neleus, etc.  I have found that hunting/outdoor brands usually have a tapered torso: banded, Sitka, Costa, etc.

In this thread we learn who the arfcommers are who don’t understand the term dad bod. Having a decent amount of musculature and having a BF% in the high teens is dad bod. Having little muscle and a BF% of 25+ isn’t,

Bet half the people in this thread are victim weight and proud of their 6 pack but can’t move 225 on any of the big three lifts.

Try again. The dictionary is not common usage.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dad_bod

The phrase has been adopted in American culture to describe the physique of a man who was once athletic, but gained a noticeable amount of body fat around the waist as he aged, leading to him having a "beer belly". It is uncommon to use the phrase to describe someone who is generally unfit as the arms, legs, and chest of someone with a "dad bod" are usually still in good shape.

I'm a little surprised by this thread though, how in the heck can any of you guys feel at all comfortable in those tight fitting True Classic Tees? Who cares if it makes you look better to the ladies, they are pure fire ants unwearable.

Depending on your level of autism it's not so simple... I can't wear most shirts because most of them make me feel like I'm wearing fire ants all day (it has to be 100% cotton, but all cotton isn't the same). And if a shirt fits tight in any area it might as well be the same thing as wearing fire ants too. Also, color makes a difference... I'm not sure how, but it does. Black can't exist in my world, as well as most dark shades of any color. Oddly I can usually stand a darker blue, navy or grey and they end up being my favorites if the material and fit is right.

If my clothes are driving me crazy all day I just can't function at any level.

Funniest part about this thread is that my incredibly scientific guess is 87% of the guys saying "just join a gym bro, why you fat." Are probably sitting at a desk 12 hours a day pounding down carbs and fat as hell.

Can't just help the poor guy find a decent t-shirt because you are only familiar with the DXL shop .

For the record, and to document from whence my moral authority arises, I've dropped 60 pounds in the last 6 months.  OP is probably still fitter than me, lol!  Down another 2 pounds in the last few days, the trend continues,

If they are actually tight fitting you need to go one size up. It's not supposed to look like you are wearing your kid's shirt. It's supposed to follow the lines of your body, more like a tailor-made shirt versus the cheap baggy rectangles you normally buy. There should be a bit of space.

I can only wear the finest cotton, it just can't be tight. I don't have dry skin and it's not an allergic reaction, it's more of a mental thing.

Depending on brand I can sometimes (though rarely) get away with wearing an Extra Large, but usually I'm in an XXL. The Bella Canvas shirts I just tried in XXL seemed to fit fine at first, but after the first wash they shrunk and became tight around my arms, shoulders and chest. They don't have a size up from XXL though.

God I can only imagine... That would open up many doors for me in the clothing compatibility department. Seems like about 10 years ago most brands decided to start using cheap cotton for all their shirts and now it's even worse with every shirt manufacturer going with a tight fit around the arms and upper torso.

Seriously stressing out about shirts lately as my wearable stash is hanging on by it's last threads. I have less than zero cares about looking good for the ladies, I just want to be comfortable.

Like I said before, mediums are starting to fit tight in the arms, chest and back. I ordered a large and those areas fit but it looks like a dress.

I think I would rather have a form fitting shirt than a moomoo.

True Classics should never be put through the dryer. Lay flat as the instructions say, wash in cold water.

Definitely not for me then. I need something I can just throw in with the normal wash.

Not sure who to test buy from next for a normal fitting quality cotton t-shirt. I've already tried all the obvious ones.

Are you aware that there are people in this world that have a severe medical condition which causes them to be that way? My mother for instance is one of those people. She is a truck driver that has bad knees and a bad back from driving the truck but you probably do not care about that case either. This is what I call a “dad bod”. My beer gut isn’t quite that bad but close. XL is too big in the shoulders for me, some Ls are ok until a few washes and shrinkage, then get a little snug around the mid section. Subscribed.
