I've been curious about getting one done, but not $100+ curious when I'm not sure what actionable data it would be able to give me. 13 / 466.95 My coach is certainly on board with this "training for a 50 miler" thing. This week (and I presume many weeks following) I have 4 runs of 13+ miles scheduled. |

I just realized the 10k I'm training for is next weekend gotta love a busy lifeNervous about my goal time of 53:00. I've only ran a 10k one other time and ran it in 1:01:xx. That was not a timed race, just me on a long run honestly. We'll see. I'm going to look into programming a pace on my watch. |

14 / 593.3 A rather gentle progression run (cutting down 10 seconds each mile) finishing at about marathon pace. Keeping the workout pretty light given that this will be a really high volume week for me ahead of a vacation next week. Doubling later. |

I realize a 10k probably doesn't need much planning, but for a Saturday race, I planned on taking Friday off and running easy on Thursday. Will do some loading but probably not much. The race doesn't start until 5pm which is kinda weird to me so I'll plan to eat easily digestible foods that day and hydrate plenty |

In general, the longer the race the shorter my warmup and the warmer the temps the shorter the workout. I'll start off easy, and in the last 1/2 mile speed up little by little until I'm running at about half marathon to 10k effort for the last 200-400m. I usually finish this a 10-20 minutes before the race, which gives me time to hit the port-o-johns before the gun goes off. After this I may do a few strides (~10 seconds very fast, but focusing on being calm and running with good form) and walking the same distance I just covered as recovery. I'll finish this just a couple minutes before the race starts, so long as I can make it to where I want in the starting corral. Probably doing .5-1.5 miles as a warmup, depending on how you feel, would be just fine. Enough to loosen up the legs and maybe elevate the heart rate a bit, but not to take anything away from race effort. . I think you have a good idea for eating and hydration. |
