[ARCHIVED THREAD] - 2024 pushup challenge is now live! (Page 17 of 41)

Quoted: Now I almost feel bad for not putting us over 87k. I wonder what a bar graph of our contributions would look like. Ultimately this is M4gers thread, and I don't want to do anything to hijack it. I also don't want to assume that others want their stats ranked. But, that all said, I have the numbers in a table and could graph it in seconds if that is what folks want. I thought it would be cool to at least post some totals from time to time. If other folks chime in and want to see a leader board type of graphic I'm happy to do that. Maybe like a once a month thing? What do yall think? @M4ger ? |

My thoughts are a little jumbled at this time of the day since I've only had 1 cup of coffee. First, we are posting our stats in this thread, and we update them constantly. I believe that is a good thing. If we have a visual reference, it might inspire more of us to increase our efforts. Giving a visual update once a month I think would be very good for those of us who are willing to see what our projected completion is for 2024. I am sticking to my plan of doing 50k because by year's end, I want to be at 250,000 since 01JAN2021, but for those of us who have no defined goal, the sky is the limit. I do believe that those of us who are updating our stats every time we do our workouts are willing to be "graphed" but I also think we should all chime in individually in this thread to ensure this. I will update my first post in this thread to make others aware that if you want to be part of the visual representation, just post an O.K. |

If anyone wants to be included on a leader board they can just say so and I can chart just the folks who opt in. Some folks like to see that kind if stuff, and some don't, and other are just tracking it personally...and no matter what folks choose, the main thing is just doing pushups and getting stronger/ healthier! The stats are just a fun way to visualize what we are doing, but unless someone chooses to opt in, I won't put there name on the chart. |

Quoted: Personal best has been set. Went into this evening with 10x30 and had some free time after dinner to chase down some big boy numbers. Went another 2x30 before dropping down to sets of 20. Added another 7x20 shortly after. I was feeling a bit ambitious and decided to go to failure. Got to rep 15 on the next set of 20 and my arms called it quits. Total for today is 515, well above my previous personal best of 345. MTD- 3925 YTD- 6195 @macro @CrustyKayak Totally spaced updating my numbers for yesterday. Between being tired from the previous day and tight on time, yesterday was rough. That said I was still able to sneak in 7x30 before heading off to bed for a daily total of 210. Today will be equally tough as I’ll be tied up most this evening, so I’m trying to get an early start this morning while work is quiet. MTD- 4135* YTD- 6405 *February |

Quoted: I didn't intend it to be a reoccuring thing, just something memey to make fun of myself once, but if you want to put forth the effort in making it I'm cool with it. I honestly love the idea and I'm happy to do it. When we started the year I built an automated excel dashboard to track my daily progress...it has an automatic report with my stats on it. Simple enough to add some rows and do a chart or three. |
|
Quoted: Well damn, this is the first time I've seen this thread. I took a little break from the internet to start off the new year and just saw this pop up, glad to see the boys still getting it on. I managed 207K last year with the help of the 2023 thread, it was a good ride. This year I backing it down to 500 a day, a much easier number to hit. My routine is to knock 10 sets of 25 before I leave the house in the morning and another 10 sets throughout the day, whenever I can get them in. Tagged, thanks OP for getting me back on track. 207k? Amazing! You piqued my interest. I am averaging ~515 a day. To just break 200k, I need to up that to ~570. Yikes. 207k...very impressive and motivating |

Quoted: So I have been playing with the spreadsheet I built to track my progress....and decided to start seeing how we are trending as a group. Some folks have been posting their YTD values just about daily, so those were easy to grab. According to the poll, 130 folks have committed to doing at least 100 per week, although only a small fraction of those folks are posting regularly. I went back over the last several days and jotted down the last YTD total for anyone that posted it. Will try to periodically post some stats as the year goes on. Hopefully more folks will chime in from time to time and share their YTD totals as well. For now, the following members have put up 86,305 reps YTD and counting... @CrustyKayak @M4ger @4FishLimit @HiPower1935 @PrincipsPistol @Hill_monkey @Ohiogators @HighpowerRifleBrony /media/mediaFiles/sharedAlbum/toast_gif-994.gif @macro That would be great! |

As for today....900 Started the day with 3 sets of 50 and tonight did something different. Set my interval timer for 3-minute intervals 30 seconds for pushups and 2:30 for rest) and just did 25 sets of 30 reps each, in 70 minutes. My chest, wrists, and forearms are completely shot....and thats 21,535 YTD. |

Quoted: Just 40 yesterday, then 125 today 370/Week 5516/Year 150 tonight then 50 rollouts. 520/Week 5666/Year Getting back on track with things, been a little off, just maintaining, mostly running and pushups, but they do the job. Hopefully things will calm down and I'll start making some gains on my fitness again. Also, Im alright with the leaderboards idea. I'm a Strava addict anyway. |

Quoted: So...this is really basic, but for the moment, here are the totals for the folks who have 'opted in' to the leaderboard. If you want off, just say so and I will update. If you want in, just say you want to be on the chart and post your YTD totals. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/38917/PU_Leaderboard_03-01-24-3146339.jpg ![]() |

Quoted: ![]() Every single person who is frequenting this thread is the reason why its been so motivating for me. People of all ages and abilities are getting after it, trying to get stronger....and that is awesome. A lot of guys make excuses for why they can't do hard things. And then here you are, doing pushups. Just stay consistent and keep after it. The numbers add up fast. |

Quoted: March 1 - 500 (20x30 over 20 minutes at lunch...OW) Edit - Added 10x25 (extra 250) 2024 Total - 31,714 New March 1 - 750 2024 Total - 31,964 March 2 - 1,036 -10x60 over 20 minutes. After round 8, I broke. I ended up making my last two sets into four sets of 30. -Rested about 15 minutes and then 10x40 over 20 minutes -I came here to add my numbers and realized I was 36 short of a nice, round number. 2024 Total - 32,900 Edit - I don't feel like doing anything else today. Minor household chores, BJJ shortly, and I have the house to myself this evening. Since posting esrlier, I did another 10x30. I am going to try and hit 2k today since I have so much time. I'll update again later. |

Quoted: The timers are great. Without them, I don't think my numbers would be this high. I love finding a segment of time, putting on some fight videos, and then going to town! Forcing myself to stop at a specific rep count made it easier to go for longer, with shorter rests. Will continue to play with this. Right now I am averaging about 10 pushups per minute including rest time. Need to increase that. |

Quoted: I got the idea from you after you posted about your emom timer a page or two back. Definitely changes the flavor of the workout. Until last night, I just did a set to failure, rested for about 4 minutes, did another set to failure....repeat until I was cooked. Forcing myself to stop at a specific rep count made it easier to go for longer, with shorter rests. Will continue to play with this. Right now I am averaging about 10 pushups per minute including rest time. Need to increase that. It increases pretty quickly. I used to do the same - blast reps out to failure. Iid be done pretty early. Now, I can do 20 push-ups quickly and be ready for another set without much rest. As long as I can carve out 10-30 minutes, I can pretty easily do 200-600 push-ups. Now, I am trying to better my recovery time by doing 10x30 with a minute between rounds...then 12x30...15x30... Then, I back it down to 10 but try to do 35 instead of 30. |

Yikes. 207k...very impressive and motivating We got to mid year and had already hit the target so we just kept going. I started the year doing 200 reps per day but as that got easier it was an easy move to get to 300, then 400 then 500. We hit 1K per day several times over the year but honestly that was a bit much. To be sure I get the 500 reps in I keep my rep count down to 25 per set and spread the sets throughout the day, I'm over 60 and need to prevent injury, this works for me. I just drop and knock out 25 reps throughout the day until I hit 500. Typically it's 250 while I get ready for work in the AM and 250 throughout the day at my office. I walk 3 miles per day during the week and 5 miles on Sat and Sun, I just knock out a set every 1/2 mile if I'm not caught up for the day. I am no great physical specimen, anyone in the thread can build up to 500 per day with a bit of commitment. |
