| If you were to take two identical photographs, both with the same lens, one with a 24 MP full frame (24 X 36) sensor and the other with a 36 MP camera, would there be a noticable (or detectable) difference in detail if you displayed them on a 12 notebook like a Surface Pro 7 + with 4k? |

On a notebook with a 12” screen? Unlikely. On a 65” 4k monitor, maybe. On a 20-foot wide billboard, probably. Which cameras are you looking at? There’s more to image quality than just the sensor resolution. How well do they resolve low light? Chances are the 24mp sensor has better low light capability because the actual image diodes are bigger, thus collect more light. The noise handling of the processor may be better in one over the other. And one may have better autofocus than the other. |

Thank you for the reply. I am putting together an afocal digiscoping kit. I want to shoot longer distances, eventually a mile, and will probably not have a spotter. I can run the camera in live mode and record it and go back and look for the shot if I need to. I am just crunching through the pieces parts and examining each part of the system looking for weaknesses and opportunities to improve them. I have a D750 and a 1.4 50mm lens. I do need to upgrade the spotting scope. I have a Kowa 82SV but the eyepiece is the 25X ELR. Rather than get another eyepiece for the 82SV I am looking at an 884 or 99S. |

I was reluctant to spend the money for an 88S, let alone a 99S, but I didn't want to spend the money for an 884 and come up short. I saw an 884 which was newly listed on eBay at a price that was on the lower end of the range of what I have been seeing. It was not in showroom new condition cosmetically but it was not too bad and the appearance was not as important as finding one that would get me to a point where I could prove out the system. I made a low ball offer and damned if they didn't accept it. It arrived yesterday. It is good optically and is ok cosmetically. I am waiting for one last piece, a 58mm to 62mm step up filter adaptor. I ordered a 58mm adaptor to go from the filter threads on the lens to the TSN-DA10 adaptor to attach to the spotting scope eyepiece. I ordered it through Newegg but it was sent by Adorama. They sent me a 62mm and were pretty rude, saying they had fulfilled order correctly until I sent them the Newegg order email. They apologized and said they would send me a shipping label to return it but they haven't yet so I ordered a step up adaptor. I did a lot of searcing and cannot find a 58mm adaptor anywhere.  I am using a DSLR instead of an MFT but the rest of the stack up is the same. |
