All of the trolls should really just go away.
This thread is one of the best I’ve seen on this site in all of my 20 years here. So much info all in one spot. A big thank you for starting it, the constant updates, and the contributors that help keep it going. |

Agreed. I have never seen such a high ratio of content to commentary and useless troll-posting in GD. You expect that in the Tech Forums, but not here.

The best source I’ve found for this is Tommy Robinson but he doesn’t do the on site reporting & investigating that Michael Yon or Chuck Holton do. He also concentrates on Ireland & the UK but occasionally posts about what’s happening in the rest of Europe, too. He’s a lightning rod for controversy so he’s been banned from Twitter multiple times, even under Musk’s ownership, and most British & European media won’t give him a platform or even have his as a guest. He’s absolutely is worth following and I post his stuff here and in other threads all the time - https://gab.com/TommyRobinsonOfficial https://gettr.com/user/TommyRobinson1 |

A big reason why this thread expanded beyond just food shortages and famine is finding other articles/stories/reports that I thought was applicable to the food angle and also worth sharing. The more I dig, the more rabbit holes I find. What’s going on today is extremely complex and multi-layered, multi-dimensional and I’m finding that information must be from multiple sources and then assembled together to get the big picture. That may also explain some of the post content from time to time. I also post from sources I don’t 100% agree with but consider portions of the information to be very valuable. I guess it’s up to the individual to extract what is valuable and what isn’t, or dismiss it all together. For instance, I don’t agree with David Dubyne on everything but get enough from his content that it fills in the gaps as well as makes me think and consider other views I would have never considered otherwise. I’m definitely not an absolutist when it comes to information anymore. In 2023, you have to have your own filter with alternate media sources, mainstream media sources, and even state run propaganda sources. Truth can be found everywhere, even if you have to read between the lines or look for what isn’t included in the story. Many of these rabbit holes are very dark and deep. You may have also noticed a darker commentary from me in recent months. A scenario about global famine does not have a happy ending for a lot of people. A storm is coming that will more than likely produce a tornado. The question is just how big that tornado will become, how many it will kill, and how big of an area it will devastate. I sure didn’t expect this thread to go in the direction it has when I first started it but this has been a hell of a journey for me over the past year and thanks to you all for taking the ride with me and adding to it along the way. |

Texas Slows Cross-Border Trucks from Matamoros to a Crawl Amid Immigrant Surge
AUSTIN, Texas – In a reprise of a controversial diplomatic pressure tactic against Mexico from last year, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered tedious truck safety inspections once again that have effectively shut down a major commercial trucking artery from Mexico, the Center for Immigration Studies has confirmed. The deployment of Texas Department of Public Safety vehicle safety inspection officers Tuesday has all but closed the trucking lanes at Veterans International Bridge at Los Tomates leading from Matamoros into Brownsville. That bridge’s two trucking lanes are open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight. . . https://cis.org/Bensman/Texas-Slows-CrossBorder-Trucks-Matamoros-Crawl-Amid-Immigrant-Surge |

Originally Posted By Alacran: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VJlRbDASjfY Yuval Noah Harari paints a grim picture of the AI age, roots for safety checks Celebrated author Yuval Noah Harari believes that AI has "hacked" the operating system of human civilization. Artificial intelligence is shaking up the world. While experiments and research in this sub-field of computer science have been ongoing for decades, the recent launch of OpenAI’s powerful chatbot ChatGPT seems to be a seminal point in the timeline of AI technologies. The chatbot’s astounding abilities have led many companies to try their hands at developing their own chatbots or even integrating similar AI in their products and services. Since time immemorial, new technologies or innovations have witnessed fear and awe before they were embraced by mankind. Most new inventions have been met with shock and apprehension, with many either hailing them or downright condemning them. The ongoing AI wave is no different. While many have heaped praise on it, there is scepticism in equal measure. Yuval Noah Harari, known for the acclaimed non-fiction book Sapiens: A Brief History of Mankind, in his latest article in The Economist, has said that artificial intelligence has “hacked” the operating system of human civilization. The Israeli public intellectual has been known for his comments on the opportunities and threats from AI in recent times. The root of the fear In his latest article, he argues that the fear of AI has haunted humanity ever since the beginning of the computer age. However, he said that the newly emerged AI tools in recent years could threaten the survival of human civilization from an “unexpected direction.” He demonstrated how AI could impact culture by talking about language, which is integral to human culture. “Language is the stuff almost all human culture is made of. Human rights, for example, aren’t inscribed in our DNA. Rather, they are cultural artifacts we created by telling stories and writing laws. Gods aren’t physical realities. Rather, they are cultural artifacts we created by inventing myths and writing scriptures,” wrote Harari. He stated that democracy is also a language that dwells on meaningful conversations, and when AI hacks language it could also destroy democracy. The author said that the rise of AI is having a profound impact on society, affecting various aspects of economics, politics, culture, and psychology. The 47-year-old wrote that the biggest challenge of the AI age was not the creation of intelligent tools but striking a collaboration between humans and machines. To highlight the extent of how AI-driven misinformation can change the course of events, Harari touched upon the cult QAnon, a political movement affiliated with the far-right in the US. QAnon disseminated misinformation via “Q drops” that were seen as sacred by followers. AI and the power of intimacy Harari also shed light on how AI could form intimate relationships with people and influence their decisions. “Through its mastery of language, AI could even form intimate relationships with people and use the power of intimacy to change our opinions and worldviews,” he wrote. To demonstrate this, he cited the example of Blake Lemoine, a Google engineer who lost his job after publicly claiming that the AI chatbot LaMDA had become sentient. According to the historian, the controversial claim cost Lemoine his job. He asked if AI can influence people to risk their jobs, what else could it induce them to do? Harari also said that intimacy was an effective weapon in the political battle of minds and hearts. He said that in the past few years, social media has become a battleground for controlling human attention, and the new generation of AI can convince people to vote for a particular politician or buy a certain product. The author drew parallels between present-day AI and the notions of the world of illusions by 17th-century philosopher Rene Descartes and the idea of Maya from Buddhist and Hindu sages. Highlighting the need for regulations, Harari cited the example of nuclear energy, stating that while it could produce cheap power, it could also destroy human civilization. However, over the years, we have reshaped the international order to ensure that nuclear technology is used for the collective good. Regulation is key In his bid to call attention to the need to regulate AI technology, Harari said that the first regulation should be to make it mandatory for AI to disclose that it is an AI. He said it was important to put a halt on ‘irresponsible deployment’ of AI tools in the public domain, and regulating it before it regulates us. The author also shed light on the fact that how the current social and political systems are incapable of dealing with the challenges posed by AI. Harari emphasised the need to have an ethical framework to respond to challenges posed by AI. The author has, on numerous occasions, shared his thoughts on the rapid developments in AI. In March, Harari wrote an op-ed in The New York Times discussing the rapid progress and implications of GPT-like chatbots and the future of human interactions. He argued that while GPT-3 had made remarkable progress, it was far from replacing human interactions. He also suggested that AI could lead to greater inequality, something which billionaire Bill Gates had alluded to in his blog post. https://indianexpress.com/article/technology/artificial-intelligence/yuval-noah-harari-paints-a-grim-picture-of-the-ai-age-8582825/ View Quote Well, I don’t think I ever heard of any movies made about cotton gins or steam engines coming alive and exterminating mankind. |

Germany is what I was interested in they have massive immigration - same as here mostly young Man all that started under Merkel but recently there is a influx the German press does not really cover this and if they do it's a little blurb - especially if a crime is committed there have been a lot of knife attacks and even shootings in Berlin I am in Berlin a few month each year and I have seen how Berlin has changed over the years - specifically the part where I grew up (it's in the south - Lichtenrade) both of the schools I used to go to have changed drastically and there is a lot of violence now |

Muckraker and Michael Yon discuss the CCP, weaponized migration, famine, war, and more
Michael Yon is America's most experienced war correspondent. As a former Green Beret, Michael has experienced and documented some of the most extreme world events of our time. In April 2023, Muckraker and Michael Yon met in Panama to investigate the mass migration happening across the Darién Gap. The Darién Gap is the bridge of land that connects North and South America. It is a dangerous section of lawless jungle that thousands of migrants headed to the United States cross every day. At the end of our investigation, we found time to sit down and have a discussion about what we had seen in the Darién, how it relates to the world at large, and other related points of concern. This interview contains information relevant to all Americans. https://www.muckraker.com/articles/michael-yon-interview/ Muckraker and Michael Yon discuss the CCP, weaponized migration, famine, war, and more

That raised more questions than it answers. Are the victims the illegally imported Chinese drug workers who pissed off the gang leader, or are they Chinese gangsters who pissed off Cleetus and Rufas from Podunk who didn't like the gangs putting off limits their favorite deer poaching land? My guess is the former, as Cleetus would have just shot them from 600 yards away. |

I can’t remember the last time I was in or around OKC, but the stories I’ve been told by family members is it has change immensely since my last visit. I still can’t believe Oklahoma went the marijuana industry route, even if it is labeled as medicinal. I do remember East Oklahoma having a healthy underground farming industry back in the 1980’s though. |

I still can’t believe Oklahoma went the marijuana industry route, even if it is labeled as medicinal. I do remember East Oklahoma having a healthy underground farming industry back in the 1980’s though. They pushed really hard for it to get the vote passed. This year, we had another vote to legalize it for recreational use. It failed by a large margin. I think people were fooled the first time into thinking it was going to be actually limited to medicinal use. Instead, it is easy for anyone to get a MJ card and it is, for all intents and purposes, legal for everyone that wants it. But the shock of seeing pot stores literally everywhere has opened people's eyes to how big this is. I expect a push at some point to cut back on some of the abuse in how easy it is to get a card. Even some of the users are a little disappointed. A coworker's wife got the card and tried several products for her back pain. Of course, it didn't work, so she let her card expire. It is really only useful for a narrow range of maladies, but people are trying to use it for literally everything. For things like seizures and chemo induced nausea, it is useful, and I am sympathetic to those who actually need it. I am not sure what you mean by demographics. I haven't really noticed much change in demographics in my area. But then, I don't get around much anymore. So I may may not be the person to ask. |
