On the mini kep it is more like 3-3.5 fingers, but grasping comfortably, my pinky likes to sit on the lanyard. I really like the mini as more of an EDC size. I would envision the big kep being better suited to outdoor tasks. |

Cool.
I was just handling the Hattin again yesterday to take some measurements, and my immediate thought in hand was fuck yeah, this is one that isn't going anywhere. Great handle design. |

Sounds like I need to rename the Big Kep the "Mid Kep" and make a bigger version yet?
|
|
https://www.saf.org/

or just "the kep"?
I wasn't hearing anyone looking for bigger per se. That could be intersting though... And to be fair, you did say how many times on the website that it wasn't really big, just bigger by comparison to the mini kep. |

I'm liking the current big kep for being trueish to form. In his Book Of Camping And Woodcraft, Horace Kephart describes the "sheath knife" as "The blade and handle are each 4 1/2 inches long, the blade being 1 inch wide, 1/8 inch thick on the back, broad pointed and continued through the handle as a hasp and riveted to it." I really like the mini for EDC. Great pocket size, great all rounder. Very robust, yet thin enough behind the edge to do great slicing. |
