Haha I have a picture of my kid a few years ago opening presents with a Shiro, he's in a pile of paper with no shirt and a gaming headset. If memory serves me well he's got it in reverse grip too

If I can find it I may see if it's postable

You did kind of wait until someone else bought it to ask about it. Lol

I wonder how it's doing sometimes when I run across pictures of it. (I may regret letting it go, just a little bit. Lol)

I'm betting on this one being a better deal out of the box vs. my first old budget standby, the $20 old hickory chef's knife that desperately needs a regrind right out of the package but is pretty decent after that.

I have to take care of my people when I can.

WIC's explanation was that the weather was so bitter cold that it was impossible to get the grill to heat up enough to actually cook the food.

Now that you're saying it can be done, (even at more northern climates), I expect the argument will shift to "Lake effect cold/snow" to explain why his southern location (to you) is somehow far colder than where you are.

Ok, quick bench top review.

TLDR: I'd say pass unless you can check it out out of the package somehow to make sure yours isn't bent.

Attachment Attached File

Blade is bent, I'm going to try to bend it straight.

The corners on the spine near the handle has had the corners knocked off, ever so slightly. From the middle of the "Dexter" out the spine is sharp, like it catches a fingernail sharp.

Attachment Attached File

This little hump at the front of the handle digs into the index finger joint when you hold it in a pinch grip.  The handle is shaped like they want you to hold it like Michael Myers.

Here's a picture of the ".. individually ground and honed to the ultimate edge."

I bet you did all that for the sake of a more intersting review. Dexter wouldn't do that.

LOL, return that shit.

I had to touch up the edges on my Dexter spatula too. I do like it though.

For the record, he may be further north, but the gulf stream (lake effect keeps it warmer than other parts of Wisconsin, fucking monkey), and with it warmer climes, pass through his area. If he was in Winnipeg, he would not be grilling in November.

I just discovered OGD this last summer and it's my favorite budget bourbon. I've seen speculation that it'll eventually be tough to find but I don't know what that's based on.

For now I'm just trying to grab a bottle whenever I'm in the store and just forget I have them.

The BiB and 114 are solid options. Despite being from Beam.

114 was harder to find earlier this year because some trend setter wrote a positive review shortly before they had a bottle shortage, and then they couldn’t get trick drivers. It is back on stock most everywhere I go now.

Sargento makes decent cheese. It is not usually my first choice, but they aren’t bad

Kraft also makes real cheese. Or subcontracts out for it. Again, not my first choice, but it could be worse.

Yeah, um, I appreciate the Wisconsin enthusiasm…but…that pile is hit or miss.

Sargento is Wisconsin

Oscar Meyer and Kraft used to be largely produced in Wisconsin, not so sure anymore. They shut down some plants here.

The rest of that stuff, no idea.

Frankly, it is all rather suspect.

Schweigert is Minneapolis. It is owned by a company in LaCrosse but it is in MN. No idea if it is still made there.

I like your spirit though.

Pretty sure you did a little pictorial story of the basic setup and talked about the general process of rough cuts, drill bit types, and refining. Not a full tutorial, but enough to get someone going.

Could be misremembering, no reason to lie about this. You’ve got all the talent and looks, don’t be bitter.
