[Last Edit: Krauss]
So I’m was about to grab a super ocean 44 today for $4200 out the door but they wouldn’t let me take it home until the 18th because of the sale doesn’t start till then. So I walked…..for now.
But now I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on an omega instead. Thoughts? Or other recommendations? Super ocean I’m looking at Attached File |

I'd rather have the Omega over the Breitling in those flavors.

Wake up, wake up and smell the ashes.

Those hands on that particular Breitling are absurdly small for a dial/bezel/case that large. Very poor legibility that will get old very fast. It will be very hard to resell. JMHO. Of those two, I’d get a Seamaster. . .

Fait was looking out for you. That is not a sexy watch. Boring even.

Stand for something, or fall for anything.

My $0.02.. The Omega will be a more desirable watch in the long run and will likely hold its value more than the Breitling, however the Omega is probably also more expensive to purchase so that may not be a factor.
I have a Breitling Superocean chrono and really like it - I've had it for around 15 years and it's held up very well, likely worth more than I paid for it new. Ultimately, it's your $$ and you will be the one wearing it. Both are great options, so if you like one more than the other, there's your answer |

I would go with the one that has the best movement. Are you a sketchy dude ?

Because I don’t say it , dont mean I ain’t thinkin’ it .

Breitling is an aviation watch company. Omega is a diving watch company.
FYI I have an Superocean Heritage chronograph and I love the high polish but it’s an infrequent wear due to the beating it takes when I wear it. Also, the Superocean line changes constantly. Really just a matter of which you like better. Look on watchrecon or watchuseek to see if the price holds on both before deciding as it doesn’t look like this is a grail watch to you. |

Get a Sea-Dweller.

I like both manufacturers However if I had to pick one from your pair, I might be inclined to grab that Omega Seamaster just because of the history associated with it and all. Pick which one you think you'd like so much that you would not want to take it off. And if you cannot decide, buy both on the same day and just enjoy the feeling of what that feels like once |

Consider a Planet Ocean over a Seamaster, you might prefer that styling. I know the bezel on the PO is higher quality.

The Omega Co-Axial movement is REALLY REALLY good. They are all very accurate for autos and tough as nails.

I’d go omega over the Breitling. But you might be able to grab a Panerai or grand saiko for close to the same money.

And honestly, Sinn over the Omega and I’m an Omega guy. |

I wore a seamaster for 15 years. Gym, with a suit, to funerals and my own wedding, everything in between. Great watch.
Finally grabbed a Tudor last year and I have to say I also love it. Check out the Pelagos for a really nice version of a simple dive watch that will likely stand up to time as wel as the seamaster did. Omega all day. Breitlings are weird. |

My vote is the Seamaster, but I’m biased and wearing one.
The Breitlings are to busy |

You can't go wrong with either. Personally, I have 2 Breitlings mostly because of their impressive aeronautical history and I'm an old fart.

Also consider Tudor at that price point.

Make sure the watch/es you are considering fit your wrist: not everyone is suited to a giant dial on their wrist, similarly, some of the smaller dials would look silly on a giant wrist. It took too many decades for me to grasp that notion.
I owned a Sea-Dweller for many years and it may have contributed to my shoulder problems lugging that thing around. |

I'm an Omega fan.

Seamaster, all day long.
I looked at everything and decided on a Citizen Promaster Diver. It's Ecodrive (quartz) so never needs an autowinder or battery replaced. One second a month vs five seconds a day accuracy. I also wanted 44mm or so in titanium as I like lighter watches and Omega didn't have much to offer that I liked. I liked the Citizen so much that I bought a second one in blue. The only issue with them has been a very hard to turn bezel. All that being said, I was close to buying a smaller steel Seamaster several times. |
|
|
I definitely prefer most Omegas over most Breitlings. That same opinion holds for the 2 you mentioned. I wore a seamaster daily until I picked up a Tudor black bay pro and I'm a big fan of the watch as a whole. Durable, reliable, accurate, and looks good.

Spend just a little bit more and fly under the radar. . . Those who know, know. This was back when they designed and manufactured over-engineered tool watches. 42mm:

Not a big watch guy but even I know Omega and Rolex have brand recognition. Not to cast shade but a lot of these other brands sounds like something they sell at Wal-Mart.
