The more you post here, the longer the file gets, and the more time it takes. You have to be up to 101 pages by now.

I did once on a job interview that I was told I didn't pass. I mean, straight told I failed after the person who told me that said he didn't even talk with the panel about my interview.  It didn't make any sense why I didn't pass or why they didn't follow their own interviews protocols that I was more than familiar with.  I got the feeling I was failed before I even entered the door.  My FOIA pretty much verified that.

Oh...  I have no such illusion that "GPS Off" actually means "GPS Off".  That's why I finished by saying "For whatever that's worth" when referring to turning my GPS off.

From the FOIA Website:

"Do research and determine if you need to make a FOIA request, then get ready."

I remember a thread where NOLO posted docs showing that they had huge holes in the registry. Multiple SOTs posted that they frequently got asked about NFA items they no longer had during audits.

Every SOT I've known well enough to talk to about the issue has said that any inspection involves the ATF agents sending copies of their paperwork back to update the NFA registry, they'll show up with a list of what they think the SOT has in inventory and there will be significant discrepancies.  Of course, the BATFE will still claim the registry is completely accurate in court, even after the Busey letter.

Ok, but don't you have to have reasonable suspicion of a crime before investigating? So it would be interesting to learn what crime he is suspected of committing that justifies all the information gathering.

You know damn well that peasants have been stomped for daring to ask for documents.

...

I have to say, ATF compliance is one of the most retarded sets of paperwork hoops I have to jump through, but the actual people I have dealt with at the NFA branch have been as helpful as they can given the situation.   I'd go so far as to say they're the most consistently friendly .gov people I have dealt with.   I feel bad for them having to be associated with some other parts of the agency.

I was under the impression you had to be individuallly listed/authorized by the commander/HMIC to enter a SCIF.  Doesn’t matter if you’re a 3 letter agency or not and I’m guessing they had no warrant.

Most SCIF's have escort rules where individuals can be let in under the watch of someone else. All classified work has to be out of view/hearing while the individual is being escorted.

Since I have NFA stuff I made a request to the FBI for my file to see what was in it.  Came back nothing.  Which I find strange since I have had multiple FBI back ground checks for my jobs.  Maybe that’s why I never get delayed on my form 1 or 4 I was expecting at least a letter showing the background checks that had been requested.

I thought about the ATF to see what they keep records of so it will be interesting to see what you get back from them.

Pretty interesting idea.   A couple of years ago 6 Alphabets showed up at my house with photos of me that I haven't posted anywhere and in countries none of my friends would have been around to take.  Interestingly they were from gun stores in Pakistan and a gun market in Afghanistan.  I would love to see the file on that.  There is a thread here somewhere discussing how to get a pistol home legally from one of the shops.

To be real though they were trying to figure out how a cheap lower I sold ended up in a cache of weapons in Mexico.  Texas Gun Trader has to be operated by the feds and I am sure everything on there is tracked.
