HR Giger came up with the alien design

Definitely HR Giger.
I'd post an example of his art but I don't think I can find any that won't get me a mod warning, at least. He made some fucked up images. |

Giger suffered from night terrors, and his art was his therapy as he tried to paint what he saw. I can’t even imagine what he saw…

The story came from a comic book that is about some sailors coming across a meteor.
The story that was used is actually very similar to the premise of The Thing. There’s an interesting documentary on Alien called Memory. It’s available to stream on Freevee. |

This too I had the chance to purchase an original Giger painting when I was in college but traveling in Europe (early 90s). I was in Zurich and a studio had some of his works. I should have bought it, but I was a kid and had no way to get it home safely. It was a landscape and didn’t have all of the sexual stuff. Very obscure piece but I was very familiar with his work and knew what I was looking at. That’s one of those things that I regret from my younger days. |
