Until the NRA is reborn as a purpose driven, well run, and effective tool, this is where my support is going for nationwide organizations. I strongly recommend that everyone also support their state level organizations, where applicable (such as VCDL).
A few organizations that are already on the front lines and are not incurably riddled with the cancer of the NRA. Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization. and it's sister organization Firearms Policy Foundation (FPF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization I'd also strongly endorse the Revolutionary War Veterans Association, which does an absolutely amazing outreach job teaching Americans the basics of marksmanship and American history through their Project Appleseed training program. (If you have not taken an Appleseed class, I strongly recommend you do so.) RWVA/Appleseed You can also support RWVA and Appleseed every time you shop on Amazon by linking to their Amazon Smile Account - a small percentage of every purchase goes straight to charity (this isn't a rounding up program, you pay the same as you would have but Amazon donates 0.5% to the charity of your choice). I'm an NRA member, currently researching these other groups to try and figure out which one or ones are best to join and support, as my discretionary funds are not unlimited. It does concern me a bit that the Dems are still ranting about the NRA boogeyman, no mention by them of any of these other organizations. It could take years to build these groups into a force to be reckoned with by politicians, and I suspect we don't have years before a leftist controlled Federal government takes an axe to firearm rights. |
| Even if the NRA could be reborn, they have a name associated with compromise now. Which many of us do not want. The bumpstock deal made this known by democrats. We gave them the inch. Now they want the mile. A new group needs to keep the pressure up from a large group. I don't know if this has been realized by any, but we as gun owners are a lot larger than the socialist. Yet the socialist get heard more because they are louder. |

Grassroots North Carolina is my state's 2A group and they are all volunteers, president on down.
We just fought back HB 712 which was designed to work in conjunction with Red Flag laws... Basically you'd be marked as dangerous under RFL, then your guns confiscated & 712 would make police melt your guns before you could prove your innocence Even if you were deemed okay, your stuff would be destroyed and you wouldn't be compensated. GRNC.org is a marvelous organization and been around for over 20 years. |

I joined GOA this year for the first time. I've been an NRA member since I was old enough to join. I haven't decided if I will renew my membership when it comes up again or not. GOA seems solid on all of my research so far and I have been pleased with their efforts so far as well. Good to hear about all of these other solid organizations also.
Don't kid yourselves though and think that any of them come close to the lobbying power of the NRA. Having actual lobbyists in DC is serious. |
