my Christmas gift to myself this year, is a Sirui 40mm T1.8 Anamorphic lens for my z8. my plan is to use if for photos only, but you never know. I know I'll have to de-squeeze 'em in post Interested to know any tips / tricks / experiences you have |

I have 6 of the Sirui anamorphic lenses. I actually really love them. Have three of the original MFT for my Black Magic PCC 4k: 24mm, 35mm, and 75mm 1.33x. And I have three of the Full Frame 1.6x in RF mount for my Canon EOS R6 mkII: 35mm, 50mm, and 75mm. I love the different perspective and the wide angle width with the telephoto depth of field. Night shots look amazing with them. My only gripe is that Light Room doesn't have an internal stretch/desqueez function and I have to import them into Photoshop. I think th new version of Capture One has internal dequeeze, and I've been thinking about switching away from LR. And I wish that Canon would allow Sirui to use the RF mount for autofocus. For now, I'm all manual with my anamorphic lenses. I had several different versions of the Sirui in my cart, and they all had decent reviews... I thought I had filtered out only FF/Fx, but in the end I was in a hurry to get something to have some time to play with it before a weekend trip, and I got fixated on 40mm and it being T1.8 vs 2.9 like the others (in addition to it saying z8 in the ad). I glossed over not knowing what S35 meant, if it said APS-C anywhere I would have picked up on that. my bad  AAR: I know I f'd up now, but this is one of those things that makes me hate amazon so much; too many irrelevant results you have to manually filter through (that is what a search engine was supposed to do).  I learned a few lessons and it hasn't even arrived (tomorrow).  No worries for now.
