A long time ago I used to develop my own B&W negatives and print the pics, mostly with an old Fujica then an Cannon 35mm SLR cameras but I also did the same with this. Late 1963 production Minox B, going by the serial number (805125) using a listing I found online so it's as old as me.  The case has seen better days but I carried this everyday in my pocket for a long time, I have pictures somewhere in a box I need to dig out assuming they weren't lost in one of my moves.     I have the manual somewhere in a box. I have had it since the late 1970's, took really good pics back in the day but about 35-40 years ago the shutter broke.  You can see the broken shutter in this pic.  It's a common issue with them and the original replacements from Minox are long discontinued. There is a guy that makes improved replacement blades and springs and I was on Ebay just now and he has them available again.  The last time I tried to buy them years ago they were out of stock so I just bought a set, kind of pricey but really excellent quality and I'll probably will never actually use it again but I hate having something that's broken. They don't have a huge collector value but they are very cool.  Also film is still available, just barely and kind of pricey and there is one company that takes new film and puts it into cartridges. For scale.  Edit: In my google search I discovered the "Complan" lens were only used on the earlier Minox B cameras, the later ones have a Minox made lens. Also the light meter does work, I really don't think its accurate any more but there is a way to "re-ionize" the selenium meter using "Coca-Cola, ketchup, vinegar, baking soda" LOL |

I too did a lot of black and white work in the 70"s when it was da ting. I subscribed to many of the photographic magazines back then and remember an article where a bunch of camera lenses were rated. The big boys like Nikon and Canon and one they probably threw in to show how much better the big names were. That throw in was a Fujica lens, the exact on I had with my Fujica camera. That lens kicked the ass off of all the others across the board. I was surprised they even let the article go to print. Advertising and all that crap, you know. |

Hate to dig up an old thread, but I have a similar Minox camera, and a Leica camera that's similar in size... if I find them in a timely manner, I'll share some pictures of them. |

Advertising and all that crap, you know. @Mousegun Sorry for the late reply but I finally figured out what model Fujica I had, I had to google it to remember what model, it was an all black ST 701 with a 55 mm 1.8 Fujinon lens. It was a great camera and regretted getting rid of it, it was excellent and really underrated in all the magazine reviews back then. Simple and the light meter worked great and took excellent pics. This one is like mine except for the lens, the one thing I hated about the black was the strap and D rings wore some of the finish off.  |
