Yeah...all I'm getting from this thread is my dollar cost averaging purchases are picking up extra shares.

More concerned with where things will be 8 years from now when I need to start cashing out.

I do mostly S&P ETFs to hold long term. I took today and added to many of my positions.

The year isn't over yet, look what it did last year starting around the end of October.
I must admit, I hope it doesn't do that great until after the election.

Is it time to doom, or is it time to panic?  Or is it time to doom panic?

It was down about 1%, guess it’s another volatile day.   Day traders making Bank (or losing their shirts)

META almost singlehandedly tanked the market. Down 10% just today.
But we hate Zuk anyway.   he’s a Grey.

Sweet, sweet bank stocks in 2009.
Citi for $4 and Wells Fargo for $8.
Too big to fail meant guaranteed the stock price was going back up.

This is a case where Ignorance was indeed bliss.

Can you think of any other companies too big to fail, who’s shareholders were wiped out in reorganization?

Sure, but the banks I worked with at the time were the ones the Fed was assigning failed banks to and backstopping losses. So risk was low. No investment is without some level of risk, just don't bet more then you are willing to lose.

But the Fed printed more than enough money & we were promised DEI & illegal immigration would make it stronger

This is inexplicable. 100% counterparty risk & it might not exceed inflation.

At least there's no worry of paying capital gain taxes

The BEST thing about ETF’s is that they have Never lost money over a time period of more than a couple years.

Get out of the stock market, seriously! You don’t have the risk appetite for normal market fluctuations; 1.5% is a normal day.

I'm sure as hell not supporting/voting for Mr Potatohead... But my investments have done better in the Biden administration than Trump's.  Eventually Biden will bring that up during the campaign.
Lots of pumping in the past 3.5 years. Congress has committed trillions to prop the economy up, Biden has drained the Strategic Petro Reserves...

Things are not looking good for 2025, no matter who is elected.

I can’t stop inflation - I can only invest to beat it if I can.  So far, it hasn’t taken a genius to do it, do prophecies of doom are laughable.  The OP’s premise is stupid.
