Thread about the filibuster reminded me how much I hate that word. Not for what it means, necessarily, just the word itself.  Anyone else find that certain words are annoying to hear regardless of what the mean or how they're used.

My short list of words to scratch out of existence:

Filibuster
Lollapalooza
Dongle
Symposium
Jamboree

Agreed, all those words are rather tinny.

(apologies in advance if we can't say tinny here)

Rural.  But maybe that's because I can never say it without it sounding weird.

I don't like biopic.  I always thought it was pronounced bi-op-ic but everyone says bio-pic.  It just sounds so weird.

Just say called.

Also any reporter that speaks English and over pronounces words is Spanish. Hey lady, it's the USA. We all should speak English here.

Never understood the hate for moist.

How would you describe a cake? Wet? Soggy? Damp? That’s even worse.

Mucus. I’ve always hated that word. Mucilage- another one. I seem to inordinately detest “M” words. But, then again,I’ve always had an affinity for “K” words- Kamikaze in particular. A good, strong masculine descriptive term. Not enough of them these days.

Based on the few people I know who hate it, I suspect it may have something to do with abuse
