If you're really into them (long live Pat Smear! ), you probably already knew this, but for those that didn't, Taylor did a lot of playing with Alanis. Okay, now let the GD hate flow!
(and please feel free to share your Foo Fighters favorites and anecdotes - I never had the pleasure of ever seeing em play live) Alanis Morissette (feat. Taylor Hawkins) • “All I Really Want”/"You Oughta Know” • LIVE 1996 [RITY] |

I'm a huge FF fan, got everything they've done . (except the Dee Gees thing as yet, anyway).
Bummed me out when Taylor died, I know the next album is going to be heartbreaking. I just enjoy Dave Grohl and the music he makes. Dude seems like a fan like the rest of us. |

I saw Alanis twice in '96 with Taylor, they were great, high-energy shows that rocked far harder than her album. She's actually very talented.
I love Foo Fighters but the quality of the albums has gotten pretty stale in the last ten years. As much as I hate to say it, some fresh blood might do them good. |

I don't have any of their albums/cd's but do like their music, what I've heard on the radio. I'd like to find a "greatest hits" CD or download to play in the car. That's where I listen to most of my tunes.
Back several years ago, we used to do "Learn to fly" by the FF in our cover rock band, and I sang vocals. It was a good song, and I didn't even know who it was by when the guys first played it for me to hear. |

Big fan but not really a huge music guy.
I remember watching the live recording of them at Wembley (i think they sold out 2-3 shows there maybe 2007/2008),+80k people singing along was chilling. Saw them live about 5 years later when they came to Phoenix, and while it was a great show and I had a great time... it definitely wasn't the same atmosphere. |

Great band.
Foo Fighters - Something From Nothing Heard the first release of the new album. Got kinda dusty in here |

Nope
After they went off the rails with they're covid bullshit they can FRO! |

They owe all of their success to Kurt Cobain. They really shot up. Sort of like the top of his head.

Quoted: Jelly. I SO love Alanis, her soul that I know of, her music. I'm hoping that we can chase down a date this year to see her, before she stops. View Quote I'd love to see her again, just to see how much her sound has changed since that first tour. Same for the Foos, it just won't be the same especially without the back-and-forth between Dave and Taylor, and Taylor doing his Van Halen songs. |

Gonna derail a sec to a recent Alanis performance on American Idol. Amazing. Fast forward 2 minutes in.

90's alternative rock was largely a steaming pile of shit. And I was in my 20s then. I should like it. But fuck that shit.
Pearl Jam, Nirvana and the rest were lazy, dirty looking fucking hippies. Eat me. |

All I know of this Foo Fighters thing you speak of is aliens buzzing B-17's in the mid-1940's.
Dave Grohl was the drummer for Nirvana, and he was exceptional. Failed To Load Title |

They came to Alaska just once and I saw them you could really tell Dave loved interacting with the crowd.

Negative. Dave Grohl is a creepy narcissistic dick who would be mopping floors right now at a high school in bumfuck Oregon if he hadn't met Kurt Cobain. His music is pedestrian, uninspired tripe, and it wouldn't have been picked up by any legitimate label without his Nirvana pedegree to make it marketable.

I was a big fan of Foo fighters earlier stuff like This is a call, I'll stick around, Monkey wrench, Everlong. The lighter stuff I strayed away from but I am glad he is just going with his musical growth can't please every body.

We saw Taylor Hawkins in 2016 playing with his band Chevy Metal at one of the last Irvine Meadows concerts. He played a set with Jane’s Addiction that night, too.
We decided we wanted to see the Foo Fighters, but we could only see them in Boston at Boston Calling. Covid cancelled the tickets for a few years, but they were put back on the schedule for last year. Unfortunately, Hawkins died before the show. They were replaced by Nine Inch Nails, which was a good act. We flew to Austin for the opening of Alanis Morissettes Jagged Little Pill 25th anniversary tour. She can still sing and although she isn’t as animated as she once was, I think her voice has gotten better. I think she is playing this weekend at Boston Calling, although we won’t make it there this year. The Foo Fighters are playing there, too. I didn’t look to see who replaced Hawkins. Attached File |

Foo Fighters are up there with (old) Van Halen, Led Zepplin, Eric Clapton, and RHCP.

View Quote That kid. Wow. Not only was his dad rock royalty… his dad took over for one of the best rock drummers in history and here he is beating the skins in his father’s honor. Just… wow. |

Love them. One of the last CDs I bought was FF. In Your Honor. Remember it had a fucking buffalo on it. I had such a hard fucking time copying it over to my mp3 player. I actually had to call someone god only knows how I found a number back then. They said to copy the CD to a CD-R/W and it would work from the ripped CD. lo and behold that worked. Some sort of uber copy protection. Fucking retarded.

I like the album The colour and the shape but I haven't gotten into a lot of their under stuff. That album has a great sound and vibe.
Anything else as good or is this peak ff? |
|
Huge fan seen them a bunch. They allowed a guy I work with son play drums live at one of their shows. Kid was battling cancer and it was what he wanted for His Make a Wish. Treated him like royalty.
Some of their songs brings back great memories. |
|
I'd say There is Nothing Left to Lose is peak FF. Still a lot of great unique melodic tracks, before everything started to sound the same and Dave forgot how to end a song without just screaming.
