Did this about three years ago.

Koko Crater aka The Rail Hike. I guess there was a battery up there in WWII and they hauled supplies via these train tracks. It starts easy then turns into a 45 degree angle. I had to take a break about every ten railroad ties when I got close to the top. We could see whales in the water at the peak which was kind of cool. I was wondering how the hell a train could go up such an incline but the did it somehow. Bring your AR, there's a shooting range next to it.

If you like tough hikes, Hawaii is your place. You drive 20 minutes from Waikiki to the base of the mountain. Hike straight up, come back down, shower and and you're ready for Mai Tais and Poke at Dukes.

And God bless the Japanese, you might see an elderly woman in a dress with white gloves on attempting the hike.

I don't understand taking a dog somewhere you need to physically carry the dog. I saw the same thing in the high peaks last summer.

We drove past it and my knees said ‘nope’!

Looks cool, never knew it was there. These Hawaiian hikes look enticing every time I go. Then I realize I’m on vacation and all I want to do is lounge by the water, and eat and drink until I get my fill.

My GF says her cousin tricked her into the hike once. Once.

I have. It started off easy enough, but progressed into a struggle rapidly.  I needed 15 minutes to catch my breath after reaching the top.

Yup.

Great fun.

Including Mai Tais at Dukes afterwards.

Some of the most beautiful pictures I've ever taken were from the top of Koko Head.
