Did this about three years ago.
Koko Crater aka The Rail Hike. I guess there was a battery up there in WWII and they hauled supplies via these train tracks. It starts easy then turns into a 45 degree angle. I had to take a break about every ten railroad ties when I got close to the top. We could see whales in the water at the peak which was kind of cool. I was wondering how the hell a train could go up such an incline but the did it somehow. Bring your AR, there's a shooting range next to it.
If you like tough hikes, Hawaii is your place. You drive 20 minutes from Waikiki to the base of the mountain. Hike straight up, come back down, shower and and you're ready for Mai Tais and Poke at Dukes.
And God bless the Japanese, you might see an elderly woman in a dress with white gloves on attempting the hike.
