Played 18 at Primland yesterday and it was awesome! Pricey ($325), but what the hell, you only live once! The course was beautiful, the fairways were wonderful, the greens were immaculate, and the rough was...rough. We were told to expect to lose a lot of balls and I lost 10. Not me. All the 'known' courses are filling in the gap between Pebble, Sawgrass, Harbor Town, and Pinehurst #2. They're all north of $600. When they get ranked in the top 10 in the state for courses you can pay to play, by a solid publication, they price themselves accordingly. The three I posted this summer are all top 10 in MI. Highlands is #1 in VA, or was. The one outlier I've played recently was Park Mammoth in KY. Was "only" $95 when we played it a couple years ago, but they had just moved from a temporary trailer into their shiny new clubhouse, so I suspect they've adjusted. (ETA: not too bad, still around $100) When we played Forrest Dunes on a Wednesday a month and a half ago, my bride to be asked how they could stay open with so little play. We paid $430 for us, so the math works out fine when every player is the price of a 4 some. Less players makes for less wear and tear and less waiting, so I'll enjoy it when I can. I fill in with free golf at the very good course around the corner that's next to a very popular moto track
