I got my form 1 approved and loaded it in Bambu studio.   It loaded in a vertical orientation.   That’s also what the read me says how to print.

When I sliced it, it said to reorient or enable support ( I think it said floating regions?  Not sure)

If I add auto support, there is no way that a guy could clean out all the support tree.

So, should I print it like it downloads from the file (without support) or should I try to lay it horizontal?

Any suggestions?

I have not but looking at it, it seems like it would not have any issues with no supports if your machine has been tuned well for overhangs.

It warns about floating regions because the model is not one single piece, it is comprised of the tube and several copies of one baffle and it thinks there are parts that are not touching the build plate. You'll see what I mean if you do a split > to objects and then arrange them on the build plate.

Print vertically without supports.

ETA: the pic above illustrates this. You can clearly see the outlines of the separate parts.

For future reference I would advise to always follow the readme. These suppressors are specifically designed to take the layer line orientation into account and changing the orientation will compromise the integrity of the parts.

I printed my FTN5 rimfire as per the readme files.  No supports, no brim.  Came out perfect and quiet as a mouse.  FTN4.5 PCC 9mm is next.

I read somewhere on this forum about support materials for various filaments but can't seem to find that post.  Did a search for what to use with PA-CF and came up with both ASA and ABS.

Is that a good combination?

Printed my FTN5 PCC Flow with Fiberon PA6CF in the vertical orientation...came out great.  Currently undergoing moisture conditioning with another week to go.

How long and what temp did you dry the Fiberon PA6CF before printing? I'm following the Fiberon directions for drying but having some issues.

My standard is 24 hours minimum at 100-105C, then keep at 70C minimum for the duration of the print.

What issues are you having?  Moisture is the bane of CF filaments. You have to dry the crap out of it and then to keep it flexible during printing you have to heat it to 70°.  And then  you have to print it hot and slow.

I've been putting parts in one of the Ziploc baggies that the filament comes in along with a soaked paper towel for a few days.

Depends what you make out of it and how hard you run it, but they're cheap enough that you print more whenever they wear out. Form 1s are free.

i did a few of the 22lr ftn.5 rimfire and i have about 800 rounds through it and it still looks new from day 1. i printed mine out of PA6-GF 100% and its light and solid.  if you search around you can find the pa6-gf for under $25 1kg roll. the 22 rimfire is around 200gr. so 5 per roll isnt to shabby

I've got the 24 hours at 100c. I think it's the 70c during printing that I'm struggling with. Time to get a heater for the spool holder.
