They couldn't wait to don their original designer shoes and hit up the art gallery to bid on the original Ronco painting being auctioned.

I know people who will only pay full MSRP for products because they are convinced that anything “on sale” is defective and inferior to a sale priced item. They happily ignore sales and go out of their way to not save money.
Barnum was correct - there is a sucker born every minute. |

Unsurprising. When it comes to shoes, handbags, and even roto-molded coolers, ect. much of the "value" is in the brand & label, not the item's actual utility or cost. It's generally not important that you spent a lot of money, but that other people know you could afford to spend a lot of money. It's all about showing off your disposable income.
