Buddy made the meme.

My son didn’t even want to take the helmet off for dinner and was pacing around till we were done so he could ride again.

When it comes down to it it depends on your setup, and how good you are with it.

I have rode many o three wheelers and a few 4 Wheelers. I can do a lot more on my 400 EX.

Quads have a more non-linear level of danger than 3 or 2 wheels.

Giving riders a false sense of confidence is dangerous.

Previous 200x master race.
Yes and no..
Most 3 wheelers are light enough to manhandle into or out of trouble. Most 4 wheelers are not.
Once you violate the laws of physics on the 4 wheeler it’s much harder to manhandle your way out of it and the added weight hurts more when it rolls over on you.

You own it or it owns you. No injuries on 3 wheeler. I owned it.

There's a reason why your 3 wheeler is old. It's old  'cause they can't be produced and sold any longer. I think your kid would be safer on 2 wheeler.

3 wheelers are more unstable, harder to turn, and 2 wheel drive.

4 wheelers are more stable, easier to turn, and have are either 2 or 4 wheel drive.

They each fill a need......but only the 4x4 fills many needs and can do many jobs.

I put a million miles on a 3 wheeler in my younger years. The only injury I had was a burn on my leg from the exhaust in a roll over. I was a passenger.

I’d be curious what the death/injury numbers were on 3 wheelers versus modern stuff. It seems like I hear about someone getting killed on a side by side fairly often.

ETA; I was just remembering some of my shoes having holes worn in the top from the shifter.

Man, I used to ride them shits on 2 wheels allllll day.  Lol.  Actually, I was an idiot on both 3 and 4-wheelers growing up as a kid.  Mom would be doing the dishes, and I would wave to her through the window while doing a wheelie standing up on the seat just to make her a nervous wreck.  No helmets either.  Ever.  Haha... good times growing up on 10 acres.  Lots of fucking around with go-carts, dirt bikes, and ATVs.  Flipped a quad once on flat hard ground, and thank God it was a smaller, lighter one.  Wasn't going that fast either (I want to say I was a passenger as well, but can't remember fully), so I was able to bail out of it pretty easily without getting maimed.  The scarier one was when I was flying around our pond pinned at full throttle on our Warrior 350, and the grass on the berm going around the pond was wet, so I drifted right over it.. going really fast.  Literally flew through the air with the quad along side me, and landed in a creek full of muck.  The quad rolled on my leg enough for the exhaust pipe to leave a nice burn, and I was a bit bruised up, but didn't get pinned down or drown in the creek, so it was still a good day.

I tore my knee apart on my Honda 125M when I was 14. But it was a fun ride.

That 250R pictured what is the most badass machine ever created?  I cannot believe how much power one of those was capable of.

3-wheelers forced you to respect them, plain and simple.  I learned from an early age that our two 3-wheelers sole purpose was to try and kill me, or at least hurt me pretty badly.  Once I accepted this, they were completely 12 yr old proof.  I grew up on a couple Kawasaki 110 and 200cc 3-wheelers, and can't tell you how many miles I put on the 110.

I still have a Honda Big Red 200 and it was the best thing to use for dragging deer out of some of the thick woods I use to hunt.

Even if it got stuck it was just easy to lift the back end out of where it got stuck .

Edit: Not a banshee as that was a 4 wheeler model but the 250r was three wheels of badass.

The Banshee came out the year before 3-wheelers were banned, no "Banshee 3 wheeler".

I guess it depends on how you define superior.  They were probably lighter and cheaper.  I don't even recall if big red had much more suspension than balloon tires.  They probably are more fun at lower speeds simply because they are many times less stable.  That said, standard trikes are unstable as fuck and dangerous as hell.

I'm gonna stick to my yz250x and Honda Ranchers.  But a 3 wheeler in the hands of a pro is a sight to behold.

But on the common level they had a cripple rate up there with polio.

Don't we always say "stupid should hurt"? You only get hurt on a 3-wheeler by being stupid, in my experience. So much fun! No matter the season, taking the 3-wheeler out was fun!

Just seeing 2 wheels in the back says added traction….one in the front says less directional control.  Then, as we know folks know little about counterbalancing, counter steering and riding mostly on the pegs.

Had a modded 350X stomp my banshee’s ass many times, dirt and pavement. They were beasts.

Riding one of those or the 250 2 strokes were an experience to say the least, should be on your bucket list.

My buddy has one of those kit built 3 wheelers that had a Briggs 5 HP on it, now replaced with a Honda .
We use it to ride around on hunting trails to keep paths open.
The wide balloon tires with a section of chain link fence drag do a good job without making ruts.
Other than that it's useless .

The three wheeler was way superior in Louisiana, because they were light enough to get stuck a whole lot less than a four wheeler.  They were also light enough to work out of a jam if you did get stuck.  They sure weren't stable, though.  I've watched them flip, roll, and try to kill or maim their occupant in many creative and unpredictable  ways.  The statement that they're much safer when you realize that their main goal in life is to hurt you, is true.

Also, that 250R is amazing.

When I was a boy we’d ride them around on my grandfathers farm.

We had a loop that wrapped around and then at the end, a straight stretch of road where we’d open it up and go full throttle.

There was a turn in the road right before it got back to the shop, however my cousin and I would straighten the curve out by taking a shortcut right through Gramps field.

This worked fine until the next spring after Gramps had planted rice and pulled levees.

Coming off the straight stretch going full throttle, I knew I was screwed when I saw the outside levee, but our old pieces of shit had no brakes.

I hit the outside levee at almost full speed and thought I was toast.  However I rode it out and caught some serious air, by far the most of my life.  Ended up landing right in a levee butt or junction where two of them came together.

Luckily I came out without a scratch, but the 3-wheeler was hung up on the levee butt and I wasn’t strong enough to get it off by myself.  Full of dread, I started waking back to the shop to tell dad and gramps so they could help me get the machine.  I knew they’d be pissed.

They walked out and saw the wreck and then looked at me with a little disbelief at first, then busted out laughing their asses off.

Good times on the old Honda 110.  My grandpa had like 5 of them.
