I've used Crucible but haven't attended their classes. When I was there we rented the entire facility as a ramp up for a high level PSD down range. I've heard that they really improved the facility.

Also have trained at BSR but again we used the entire facility.

Tom Bullins at Trigger time in Carthage NC is an excellent instructor, ran BSR for a while and is plank owner on the USMC FAST teams.  I've been out there dozens of times and have brought Tom in for a variety of training evolutions. Good guy and knows his shit. Kyle Lamb used to use his facility as did Dave Harrington and some other guys.

Also have used Va International Raceway for PSD driving, pursuit driving and other driving crap.

Plus a bunch more...

Hell, my wife pisses away money and vacation visiting her family and my kids are grown.

I could easily do the same to go play cops and robbers somewhere.

VIR is a tremendous place overall. I've spent a fair share of time there, being local and .MIL helps too. Granted its not Moyock but nothing else will ever compare to that place in its heyday. I REALLY want to take a class with Clint Smith, I need to quit making excuses.

What's your beef with Academi? I've taken a pistol course and carbine course there, and they were awesome. Instructors were expert and easy-going, let us do a lot of fun stuff. Nice campus, too. If I had the money I'd be down there every year.

MEh.
Everybody that I know, that attended courses(besides me) was BTDT or LE. Most of the BTDT dudes were trying to get a feel for BW through courses, before turning in their resumes to apply for work.

Most people should take a retention class and a pistol class every once in awhile, but I'd rather run around in body armor I'll never wear outside the house with a carbine I'll never fire outside the house and shoot out bolt holes and windows at poppers

Most of the cool kids in my area that are class junkies end up making a lot of trips down there. I spent a fair bit of time with the guys that run it at SHOT back in 15.

Weren’t these the schools that developed “Contractor Casual” dressing of 5.11 cargo pants & polo shirts? With optional plate carriers & LBVs (Load Bearing Vests, if they changed the term).

Around here you don’t get to do the high speed classes unless you have a plate carrier.

Just in case.

A dude got so pissed at me when I said another poster’s real life war experience where he liked a acog/rmr combo beat a different posters 9 hole drill experience where the other poster didn’t like the combo. Got called an insufferable faggot for suggesting real life beat drills for figuring out what worked better. ????????

Just off the top of my head, Texas has Combat Shooting and Tactics, Green Eyed Tactical, and Rifles Only.

Standard prices anywhere are $225-$300 per day.
