I have been to Area 51. Or at least until I got to the sign that says how to get with the program if I go any further I'll be arrested. And the camo dudes were on the hill watching.

Bunch of made up BS to increase the mystique of the government and military. If aliens were to visit I'm sure they would happily turn themselves in to military personnel at a remote base in the US. At most the military is hiding super secret space rocks they have found in the desert.
I'm happy to be wrong but just don't see the strategy behind the secrecy. |

I watched all the workers returning to Vegas from my room at the Mandalay Bay.

Father in law worked out there during tail end of VN conflict, worked on a then classified SAM countermeasures program.
Also we think there was some "other stuff" that he was very tight lipped about. He still had a lot of active NDAs when he passed last year. He was also a "Project Bluebook" Officer during previous assignments. I think it's every bit as "interesting" out there as people can imagine based on the look on his face during various after dinner conversations. |

Ironically, I've been past it before... not inside or anything, but near...

Been to KXTA 2x in the 1990's.
Plenty of room. Nothing to see, |

I worked with a guy who did some technical work there. He was so compartmentalized that they never even told him where he was going when they brought him out there.

My grandfather has been a few times. He was a higher up for Boeing Defense. He says it’s just a proving ground for experimental aircraft for the most part.

Back in the early 2000s we camped on the border with some Californians and heard what sounded like a mini-gun or that BRRRRAPPPPP from an A10 inside the restricted area on a Friday night. I was the guy that found bear tracks that same camp trip after a rain. The tracks were verified bear by a Fresno S&R guy who was with us and also shown to a a game warden who confirmed. There are water troughs to water the cattle in that area....a damn bear...in Southern Nevada. |

Flew over it years back in a little number I built myself. Tried to call in to Coast to Coast and finally had to have my girlfriend get through to Art by fax to accept my call. Art tried to caution me against it but I was pretty determined.
Once the interceptors started firing at me I dropped her to the deck and skedaddled. Cell lost signal as I was taking her in and it was pretty hairy for a spell. Won’t do that again. |

Quoted: A waitress at the Little"A'le Inn gave us directions to the area 51 gate a few years ago when we came down the extraterrestrial Highway on the way back from glacier national park. Its like 20 miles of bumpy and rutted gravel and dirt road. Then right when you are ready to give up it becomes paved and totally smooths out for a few miles right up to the gate. At that point the guards lock on to you. My wife lost her nerve and made me turn around. The ET Hwy has these cows that just stare at you driving down the road. They are suppose to be alien-bovine hybrids for experimentation. They just look at you like they are screaming for help on the inside. And we saw roadkill that was bizarre and other worldly. Escaped creatures? And we visited J-Rods mailbox, where secret instructions were left for him. https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/L2kQJsewLJ6P6dSNnLQmwn.jpg View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted: Quoted: Talked to a guy while we were staying at the Little"A'le Inn last summer who told me he has however he added there wasn't much to see, some hangers an admin building. Quoted: When did Area 51 become widely known? According to my mother and grandmother, they remember my grandfather sometime in the mid 1970s casually saying how he used to work at Groom Lake. He did work for Lockheed in LA in the 50s and 60s, but I don't know if he took any trips out to Vegas. Mom told me that in the late 1990s and I'm like, "Groom Lake is Area 51 and Bob Lazar stuff!" I have no idea on the veracity of it. IDK why Lockheed would need a heliarc welder (TIG nowadays) at Area 51. Then again, I can't see him BSing with my grandmother about something she'd have no idea about. View Quote The F-117 crash that happened in 1987 really put some eyes on the area, and then it started getting pretty heavily exposed in the early 90's. There was a local resident (Glen Campbell, and not that Glen Campbell) that built a respectable online following in the early days of the internet, the Freedom Ridge land grab really pissed him off so he made it his mission to shine a spotlight on the place. published a newsletter in the mid '90s that's still available online. The ball was already rolling before he showed up but it definitely got kicked faster with the spotlight. X-files originally aired in 1993 and made it more mainstream as well. |

No. But I have been to Tonopah for work for a couple of weeks. When I drove into town after dark, the "S" on the Shell station sign was burned out, so it said "hell" in bright red letters.

I bet it would be fun... for like 10 mins until the novelty wore off and you were just working in some shitty old buildings out in the desert.
