What would cause me to get short of breath every once in a while.  Mid 30s 6 foot tall and 205 lbs non smoker.  Sometimes I feel like I'm kot getting enough oxygen and I'll start gasping for air.  No illness symptoms, it's been happening for a few months at least.  I figured it was from lack of cardio and not being able to get into the jiu jitsu gym like I was before all this.

Lots of things, you should see your doctor. They'll need a history, physical exam, and labwork to even begin to address the problem.

ETA: I'm not joking. Go see your doctor. Men have this thing about not going to see their primary care provider and ending up in the ER near death.

This.  There are too many variables without tests to go on.  Shortness of breath could be allergies or symptoms of something deadly like a blockage of the left descending (widow maker artery in heart).  Go get a work up.  Worst case they give you a baseline for bloodwork and EKG for when shit goes to hell in your 50-60's.  It's a pain in the ass but better than a possible toe tag.  I say that as someone that has cared for post cabg patients.  You expect an 80 year old to get open heart, it's the mom's & dad's in their 20's and 30's that really sober you.

Doctor -- NOW!

Also, you might want to pick up a pulse oximeter and, if you don't already have one, a BP monitor.

Damn, didnt think of that.  I get blood work regularly from testosterone treatment.  I cannot stand going to the doctor but I guess I need to bite the bullet.  I bet it's going to be a pain in the ass to get an appointment about now.

I get that checked weekly along with blood pressure.  Usually around 120 over 80.  When I was a cop, several years ago I did have high cholesterol almost high enough to be put on meds.  I never followed up on it unfortunately.

The daughter has some sort of funk on top of a lingering wart that started to get nasty and we called the peds.  The tele-med call with facetime was super easy and newer cameras got the matter quickly with an RX in to the pharm.  They will likely look do the same and most offices are waiving copays bc they they have less overhead.  You'll end up with a script for a pint of bloodwork, EKG, and likely a stress test depending on the blood work or other risk factors.  The testosterone therapy can also exacerbate cardiac issues depending on dose.  Call today and you'll likely get "seen" today.

Arfcom can't look at your lungs and heart.  A doctor can and should though.  You should see a doctor to get a real answer.  You can at least talk to one from home on the internet now and if they think you need tests, they will schedule them.

A heart murmur is just the sound of turbulent blood flow. Most are "innocent" and don't really mean anything but they might require further investigation.  Unless you have listened to his heart with a stethoscope, you (or anyone) have no way of knowing that he has one.

Ok, got an appointment over video chat on monday.  I also usually have thick blood and I'm sure that has something to do with it.  When I first got it checked about a year ago it was a 49.5 or so and I'll give blood to get it down to a 46 or so and feel a lot better at the time.

Have you started taking anything regularly lately? I started taking vitamin C and D and it turns out there can be side effects like dizziness and headaches (of which I have had lately)

Yesterday I had some pretty bad heart palpitations. They subsided but I still feel less that 100%. My BP is up too. Gonna set up a telemed deal today.

Good luck man. No one needs this kind of crap with virus stuff around

She's doing well in pain as to be expected. Bypassed her lad artery they have to Stent the right side because the blockage was to low to bypass.  Her ejection fraction is up and they can tell due to feeling the pulse in her ankle.  She has a scan Tom to see how the heart function is officially. Stent will be in 4 weeks once she recovers. She was up in a chair day of surgery and they had her walking day after.  She has had previous heart attacks according to surgeon. They removed the chest tubes and the iv in her neck.  .
If your having issues get checked bud. Your young fix whatever is wrong now so you can live a long happy healthy life.

Thank you for your prayers we appreciate it

Edit.  Yes we haven't seen her since last Wed due to the covid restrictions

Could be a nonocclusive PE, but statistically unlikely. It could be anxiety, coronary artery stenosis, or one of a dozen other things.

Or it could be idiopathic. Regardless, see your doctor and go from there. As someone else said above, arfcom can’t look at your heart and lungs. Good luck!

Sounds like OP made his way to ED anyways, especially if you've got chest pains and dyspnea.

I figured I would post my issue as I had gone through untold amount of tests, specialists, etc...I will make a pretty log story short.

A few years back, I started having some shortness of breath that was NOT activity induced.  I would be talking to someone and felt like I was out of air ("two-word dyspnea"), I would bend over to tie my shoes, sit up and felt out of air.  No associated pains or anything else.  Had multiple EKG's and Holter monitoring sessions.  Everything would always check out fine.

Through my own study, I determined that I might have GERD.  I went to Wal-Mart, bought an OTC omeprazole and took it.  An hour later, I didn't have that crazy feeling of being short of breath...mind you, this had been going on daily for almost a year.  Imagine my "what the fuck" moment when I realized all the money and time I had spent trying to figure out what the hell was going on with me.

Of course, my "primary" care doc doesn't believe me, insists that GERD can't cause that feeling, which precipitated me to kick him to the curb.  I went and saw a GI doc who handed out a script of Omeprazole for the rest of my fucking life. Didn't care to find an actual cause of the GERD.  Said it was a "quality of life" issue.  Meaning, I could restrict everything I ate and drank forever or just "take this little pill" that would fix it all.

I ended up talking to a DO about my GERD and he gave me a natural solution for it.  Basically, you need to actually increase your stomach acid, not reduce it.  His cocktail worked and now I don't take omeprazole either.

I just re-read my post...sorry I went down a rambling path.  However, if someone is out there struggling with the same shit I had, I hope they find my post.

Please let us know how you are OP.

@poisontree I am exactly the same as you in the same boat. Mine is usually after exertion but im in damn good shape and 5 mins on a rowing machine has me gasping. I was walking up maybe a 100 yard hill 2 weeks ago with a backpack and 2 guns awhile on the phone and seriously thought I may die. Then sometimes sitting on the couch I notice my breathing is kinda wonky and then I focus on it which makes it even worse. Went to the gym today and worked my ass off, no symptoms. Very strange. Maybe I need to get checked out too.
