Meh, 3d printed ARs are dumb.

Its plenty easy to make them from better materials.

Although certain states are trying to make it so.  But yeah, these are generally perfectly legal.

This is not that. I've followed this on social media. One of the guys involved with this was trolling the hell out of those guys when that news broke. Posting mirrors to the DefCad files in the comments of their posts and such. He's also working on a Glock frame that's easy to print and uses relatively easy to machine rail inserts.

Make scads of copies on cheap SD cards, USB sticks (maybe older Corsair "Survivor" waterproof ones) and be Johnny Appleseed.

Use the sdcard.org formatter for old SD cards. (Is there a better way to clean old cards? Is there some write and erase everything?)

https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/index.html

Then put whatever useful information peeps down the road might need. Put wherever you think might be useful.

Same with old air-gapped (no wifi/Bluetooth, Ethernet ports taped over with reason why) 'puters. Laptops if you're a rich porcshe owner ;)

Or books if you're a dinosaur.

They are just 3D models. It would take minutes to reproduce them if the originals are lost.

Fair point. The last generation knew what milling machines were and could crank out AR's without 3D printers. Who knows what skill the next gen shall lack.

Agree completely, but how many peeps a century from now will be able to read a CD? How many can read old floppies or tape storage from the 80's?

I think solid state storage will remain pretty accessible, simply due to the enormous number of products using it. Spinning media will be sparse. Accessing spinning media that is unconnected to the net will be difficult, unless someone happened to squirrel away a compatible computer or three. And those computers store BIOS in...

I think memory cards kept cool, dry and probably dark (to prevent housing damage) would probably last well beyond lifetime of prpducts left in hot (or freezing) cars, humid or salt environments and so on.
