I'm wondering if an informal BMW thread might gain some traction in Cars section. I follow the Porsche GD thread which has been going for quite a while now and I had a Mopar thread in Cars section that went on for a while, but I let it fade after I made car changes. I'd been window shopping various German cars, not unusual for me to be doing such things as mood strikes. Cars are fun. THEN, Spidey posts his new (insanely cool) car in the same week I randomly find an affordable base model 2023 M3 6MT, locally, with the interior color of my choice and it's a southern car; I scooped it.   @Spidey07 @Butternut please @ others if you want, i couldn't gather usernames from the archived thread Spidey had as i haven't renewed membership in a long time. |

Nice scoop. My daily is an F80 and have been eyeing the G80. Friend has a CS and it's gorgeous and potent. As I add to the collection (I have an E46 M3, as well), I will likely do F82 M4 of some flavor, or round out the collection with an E9X. I have issues... I had this for 4 years, actually sold if for more than I purchased it for at the peak of post covid. I loved this car, V8 topped out at 8300rpm if I remember correctly. Brakes, lower bearings, other random crap that was expensive, it was reliable but pretty expensive to maintain. Though, at 90K miles and what I though was the end of being able to purchase a new model 6 speed sedan looming I bought my first new car.  Now I'm in this, faster and better fuel economy. Miss the rumble of the BMW V8 though.

love those Supra's just a tight fit for a guy my size. the M3 is about as small as I'd be able to go comfortably. This one has the CF roof, debating on whether to get some complimentary CF parts to go along. IO have always been a sunroof guy but the CF roof is chefs kiss. |

The carbon fiber roof also gives a tiny bit more headroom over the sunroof option, as well as moves a little bit of weight away from the roof. I'm one of those people who thinks too much carbon fiber on a car starts looking too rice. Particularly if most of it is on large surface areas like hoods, trunks, roofs, etc. I try to keep the exterior of my cars as stock appearing as possible and prefer to focus on things like suspension, wheels, etc. for the "flair". Although I do like the look of the BMW M Performance trunk lid spoiler for the G8X cars. Not the wacky racers wing, the smaller duck bill one. I'll probably get one as a port option when I finally can submit my build. From what I've been reading and hearing from my dealer, the allocations for the xDrive M2's are few and far between right now. |

Picked up my 07' 335i around 5 years ago. Was looking for a fast street car....was really wanting something with an LS in it, but after some research...I figured out that these inline 6, twin turbo N54's they put in these cars can makes tons of power, cheaper than just about any other platform. Ended up picking it up for $3,500...it needed a little work, but not much. Did some suspension mods, upgraded the turbos, put a few standard bolt-ons on it, and a good E40 tune, and the thing went 10.90 at 129mph at the track, leaving in 2nd gear (to keep the tires hooked up). Not sure there is any other platform out there that you can run 10's with for that kind of money. (I probably have $3K of mods in it). By my math, it's pushing a little under 600hp at the rear tires. And the best part is that it's got awesome brakes, all the cushy BMW interior stuff, and it's not your standard Mustang or Camaro. Yes, it idles and sounds like a Toyoto Camry.....but when the boost hits, it's downright brutal. Fun cars for sure.....

I really like mine. Not the fastest or the most expensive but it runs good and gets good mpg for what it is and how I drive it sometimes. So many cool things our other cars don't have/offer. I have had to do more work on this one than anything else we currently drive, but I think it's worth it most of the time. I almost went and looked at an older M3 awhile back but again, at almost 70, it's tough to do the leaning over, getting down on the floor, etc. stuff. Oh, 2015 435ix with the 8 spd. automatic. No, the Z4 is the final edition ever made, also called the 'final edition,' only (afaik) coming in this frozen black. Also comes with the manual transmission. It's definitely more high maintenance as far as paint goes, but looks great. |

I bought that car b/c it reminded me of a plum mist purple 67 GTO we had in the family. That GTO was an important part of my life for several reasons. It was promised to me but, sadly, family doesn't always do what they say they will. That color works well on cars IMO, it's different but not flashy and looks blackish at night. Very nice. |

Just picked this up a little over a month ago. '21 M340 xDrive. Bought it in Cali and daughter and I flew down and made it a road trip home. Ultimate goal is keeping stock internals so 600ish whp. Just cosmetic stuff so far but just got DME unlocked so can finally get the mods going. Stock  Lowered on Eibach Pro's, yellow DRL's, CF mirrors and grill.   First custom plate. Idaho had some really good vanity plate programs.

I subscribe to this thought mostly too on cosmetic add ons, though I wouldn't mind a tad more CF on this car to tastefully compliment the roof. I have the small OEM trunk spoiler, and would never want anything larger but if it were CF in the same size, it'd be subtle and appropriate IMO. Same for maybe mirrors. I do like the CF grilles, and it might integrate well with a black sapphire car, It's not a small expense and I probably won't. |

I built everything you see, most from scratch, bunch of junkyard parts like the Honda Prelude TB a fuel rail off a 318 bmw, a real frankenstien if had GM, Volvo, VW, Fiat parts too, it ran really well. Ran on Meagasquirt, Holset HX30 turbo, MLS headgasket, ported head and a turbo cam, 25psi without the water,meth injection and 30psi with. 1975lbs went like stink, I could beat 2000-2005 era zr1 corvettes to 100mph pretty easily. I have a 74 automatic back behind the shop and a 69 1600 inside. I'm thinking the 74 needs a BMW V8 because a buddy left one on a stand when he had two and I helped him stuff one in his Autocross E30. I think NA 300hp one would be pretty fun too. |

“Deleted” the rear reflectors today. Really wish these giant black things didnt even exist but I see this as the best solution. Bought color matched front reflector deletes as well but that requires a heat gun and I didnt want to f with it tonight. Knocking out a few “dress up” mods and that will be it for a while. Now that the break in is done it’s time to start enjoying the car. Bring on the cooler weather! Attached File Attached File |

There’s some carbon fiber replacements but I dont want to add any more CF and again - they are just pointless. If they were vents - awesome. Damn near every other sensor on the car is sunken in and body color…. Anyway, I love the car and may or may not have hit a new top speed record today on my early morning zip…. |

I’ll usually just have a few buddies over, a game on the garage tv and just make a day of whatever project(s) one of us has to work on. |

Maybe if I get a little bored with the power i'll do a stage 1, warranty is up soon. |
