I think we've done this before, but it's been some time.

Always loved the F5,

Also loved the F20 when it was designed, but too bad it never made it into production.

So many planes to make the list, F4U Corsair, P51-D Mustang, even the old PBY Catalina.  I know the F-14 made it big from Top Gun, which we should see #2 this December, I think.  The F-16 (Corrected due to input from following posts) from Iron Eagle, which is being touted in Cobra Kai again.  The A6 Intruder from Flight of the Intruder.

What were the planes of your youth?  Bonus for pics.

I miss the flying boats.

And, I can always take another airplane thread, especially if it doesn't have any politics in it.

They've got a Catalina parked right next door at the moment.  They're working on getting it airworthy I guess.

Iron Eagle was about F16s.

Not the late model chonky varieties though.

Those are pretty nice looking.

The F86 is up there in the looks department.

Saw a group of F5s (T-38?) buzzing the tower in Yuma around Labor Day.  At least 5.  All painted differently.

Thanks for the correction.  Edited the original post.

I remember building several F-86 Sabre Jets when I was growing up.

Since third grade, I've had a weakness for the cute neighbor girl and the missle that Kelly Johnson put wings on so the pilots wouldn't be scared.

I don't see why not. I don't know why the Beaver was ever discontinued. It was a great airplane. That said Canada has a history of canceling the production of good aircraft, like this one:

PBY Catalinas were sold to the public for like $1,000 each and converted into private flying/floating houses.

I am partial to this old girl.  Since it is one of a few P-51's that has my fingerprints all over.  Lots and lots of elbow grease, drilling and buck riveting.

I love the P-51 and think it's the best looking plane ever made.  I also love a lot of others, including some that maybe aren't as popular in the "prettiest plane" lists.

Other favorites include:

F-15, best looking 4th gen fighter
F-104, missile with a cockpit, held the time to climb record for a long while
F-111, impressive payload and performance, very cool looking from lots of angles
DC-3, just classy AF

I'm surprised it took this long!

The Super Connie (Constellation) is the most beautiful propeller driven aircraft ever made.

And very, very few jets rival her looks.
