I have an Prusa 3 MKS that I'm wanting to replace with a multi head printer. I can't decide between the Snapmaker U1, or the Creality K2. Is there a better option out there? Prusa Core Gen 2 seems interesting but I'm not sure the Prusa quality matches the price like it did 8 years ago... WIFI - Don't need it / won't use it - will be used offline exclusively Freedom to print what/how/when I want - important Poop/waste during change - obviously less is better Quality of product - good/excellent Product use - everything from stuff for the kids to functional useful stuff for around the house, and everything in between, etc. Brands we don't like IIRC: Bamboo, Flashforge |

I like the Flashforge Creator 5 Pro, but I hate the companies policies and it's walled garden approach. They hate gun stuff and claim they will report you to the "authorities" if you print that kind of thing. I would like the Snapmaker U1 if it came with hardened steel nozzles and a cover and higher bed and nozzle temperatures. Also Snapmaker as a company seems much more 2A friendly. So I'm in a holding pattern waiting to see who else is going to bring multi-nozzle/toolhead printer to market. I think the dam is going to break and within 6 months or so there will be many more choices at competitive prices. My old modded up Bambu will still do most of what I want for now. |

I mean it IS a project, but Voron? You can do INDX if nozzle at 300c is enough, or stealthchanger for full capability toolheads. ETA: If INDX is good, a Prusa would be cheaper. |

I have a k2 plus, but I wouldn't recommend it as a first printer. It's also not multi head, but it does swap filaments for multi color. It runs good and would probably be better if I didn't constantly tinker with it. ("We" also don't like creality  )The bambu h2d at work is ok I guess. We have several prusa XLs running now. 4 or 5? If I'm spending your money, id get a prusa core 1 L with indx when its available. |

I cant say what is best, but I would suspect the latest from Prusa is up there as well as bambu. We go with Bambu H series but not the multi head. Our reasoning is that they are good but they do run into issues and its a bit easier to have a repair guy work on the bambu than others. However... its still a pain getting some parts. We just had our first issue and it was an Eddy Sensor go bad, and trying to get the spare part is difficult. Every day that machine is down cost us a lot, Im not to keen on putting aftermarket eddy sensors in these things, but I may have to. We are now at 2 weeks down, and thats a killer. I ordered several parts from bambu just to build up our reserve so we dont have this bullshit again. Who knows when those parts will arrive. |
