So what is the best caulking for sealing up joints where the wooden window and door frames meet the brickwork on the outside of my house in the hot and humid south?

I have tried to use acrylic caulk before and only got about two to three years before the cracks opened back up.  Usually separating from the brick work.

I would also prefer something paintable.

Silicone.

I've been replacing some old acrylic latex caulk on my Hardie plank siding joints with Lexel. It's solvent based so no easy water cleanup.

Water cut-off mastic under sill then cover exposed edge with paintable caulk

The sill has no overhang.  All the sills are about 3 inches inset from the edge of the brick.

Any thoughts on OSI Quad?

My main concern is having enough stretch in the caulk to keep from separating from the brick.  I have to use back rods in some places the gap is so wide.

You seek a silane terminated polyurethane. 100% solids. Paintable.

Essentially a silane modifed urethane where the urethane replaces the OH polymer that is the base of any silicone sealant. Adhesion pomoters, cure accellerators and catalyst same as silicones.

This is the current state of the art sealant technology.

OSI Quad is an SEBS/Hydrocarbon Resin/solvent blend like Lexel. Good 1970s technology for less the 3/8 inch joints. Shrinkage due to solvent evaporation.

Thanks.  After reading the product sheet that appears to meet my needs.  I take it that mineral spirits is used for clean up?

Any application issues that I need to be aware of?  I don't see anything mentioned on the product sheet but if you have used it you might have insight.

ETA - is this product similar to Sikaflex1A?

Polyurethane caulk is the best one going now.

Quad Polyurethane...or other polyurethane.

Adheres the best, will expand contract with the other materials.
Lasts longer than silicons.
Use paint thinner or other mineral spirits to clean up.

Most important it forms a sort of harder flexible material that can give with temperature & humidity
changes and allows some movement but stays attached to the base material very well.

It will also stain your hands badly so wear nitrile gloves AND some heavier work gloves.
It makes light brown stains that must wear off.

$10 a cartridge is really getting up there.

It better last a long time.

UV stable if unpainted?
Or painting required?

Are the polyurethane caulks any more prone to failure due to UV exposure than other types such as silicone or acrylics?

I know the darker colors are more resistant but not sure about the white.

Data sheet looks OK but no long term testing on the site.
No long term warranty.
