I was initially looking for a site that would give me immediate notifications when there was news regarding any holding in my portfolio. I looked at several and settled on Seeking Alpha (SA). I signed up for the 30 trial for $4.95 which expired today. I built portfolios on the website but did not link to my brokerage account.
SA met my expectations, giving me real time notification when there was any news regarding anything in my portfolio(s). It also gave me some features I was not necessarily looking for but found quite useful like searchable analysists written opinions, aggregations of SA analysists ratings, street analysists ratings and their proprietary Quant ratings. One of the SA analysts articles turned out particularly well, making a case for Micron Technologies which I bought at ~ $115 two weeks ago and is now at $157. There is nothing I know to look for that I have not found on SA. Before I commit to a year of SA for $300 are there any sites that are better? |

| SA is pretty good. The subscription fee is fairly low. As someone who invests almost full time and has subscriptions to multiple services; I can tell you no place is 100% in terms of news and advice. Some days a particular stock will move and you will find no news on why. I take the advice of analysts with a grain of salt. Most of the time they revise their estimates as a group on what's already happened. |

SA stands out compared to several other stock news/research sites. There's a couple of other good ones who know what they are doing. They each have different packages. wallstreetzen.com tradesmith.com Finviz is the best free option. Type in your ticker, and it gives you all the fundamental and technical data. Plus all the mentions in the news. finviz.com |

I did subscribe to Seeking Alpha. Ironically Alpha is not what I am looking for in investments. LOL I am an income investor. There is a subforum for income investing but I don't find it particularly useful. It does allow me to track my investments and do analysis. It is particularly helpful checking dividend information, both for individual holdings and for an aggregate. There is a good amount of analysis for individual instruments. I don't seem to get the 'fresh, hot, news' for my specific holdings but it is fairly useful. Presently I have; ARCC, 16.78% DEA, 6.94% GSBD, .24% JEPQ, 31.99% PDI, .93% STWD, 22.00% YYY, 21.12% for an aggregate annual return of 11.67% I am looking at GOF next. |
