This isn't something I normally look into, but had multiple stories pop up in my feed over the past 24 hours, each with an increase in the sighting count, which looks like it's at 8 reports for the moment. I'm fairly close to the area of the sightings and I've been following it as best I can. It's up to at least eight separate reported sightings. Michigan is getting in on the action now too. What I find notable is that no one it seems is reporting these to the police, the Sherriff, the Highway patrol, the DNR. All of these were reported to cryptid podcasters and social media. One witness said the creature apparently couldn't move it's head/neck and had to turn it's upper body to look at them. Also a witness (same one maybe I don't recall) said the bigfoot moved like a person walking on stilts. I'm skeptical. |

Definitely a little sus. If you're talking abut Matt Moneymaker's BFRO website, I wonder how up to date it is. Sometimes it has brand new stuff, while other times there seems to be quite a delay. I think he runs the website out of his house and likely has a day job per se, so the bigfoot stuff comes secondary. |
| I'd be surprised if our Bigfoot hunters on this forum don't start a thread in General and at least a few don't go hunting. It's amazed me the number of believers on this forum (i'm talking Arfcom) when it comes to Bigfoot which is almost certainly an alien of some type. I don't believe for a second some big hairy ape of a creature actually lives and hasn't been shot/killed or captured as many sightings have happened. He/she/it has other means of escape! |

When we had the first (very weird) sighting in my county in over a decade it was updated within a few days. Maybe the speed has something to do with how high profile/credible it was since the sighting here was connected with a very high profile rescue and came from a group doing SAR on it. |

I post there for the amusement value of watching the mouth-breathing basement dwelling artificial crabmeat connoisseurs and trainset loving mall-ninjas respond. It's hilarious sometimes. I've been here almost 16 years. I learned to assemble AR's from the ground up here in the tech forums, and taught a half-dozen friends to do the same. I hope those skills always remain a hobby and never become useful. In those years, this place has gone radically downhill (one man's opinion). This forum, although I find 95% of what's posted here wildly imaginative/debunkable, is a bright spot. A real bright spot. At least the discussion here is civil (when I'm not being moderated for stupidity) and intelligent (ditto). Stay out of GD unless you have really thick skin and don't give a shit what other people think. It's degenerated into the worst of the internet. And is still fun at times.

It was during a very rough time in forum history, well, in Earth history where people were realizing they couldn't believe who they thought they should absolutely trust and if people discussed it they got dogpiled so people jumped to alternative topics and ten this forum was created to hold "all the odd folk" and I'm totally happy with it For a while it was rough as they had a "we don't like the topic so we wont let it be discussed anywhere!" attitude but that died down after about 3 years, some really hold grudges. Now we still get same flak for Bigfoot threads, but at least UAP/UFO threads are pretty much entirely ignored after all the different releases and .gov acknowledgements of certain videos being known real/true/actual (and some will still refuse to believe, even if it landed in their yard and they took a tour and a flight, they'd insist it was all some psychotic episode or slipped drugs or something. Hardcore deniers. |

Just posted this in the current GD Bigfoot thread, but I hope the categories are helpful enough to share here. If we start from a materialist worldview (the idea that the physical world is all that there is) then bigfoot almost certainly does not exist. There is no way that such a large physical creature that eats, sleeps, and defecates could maintain a breeding population in North America without a single specimen being collected. If, however, we start from a Christian worldview, then we already accept the existence of entities that do not interact with the physical world in the same way that we do. We can break down all living creatures into four categories: 1. Physical, but not rational (Ordinary animals) 2. Both rational and physical (Humans) 3. Rational, but not physical (Angels and demons) 4. Neither rational nor physical (Spiritual animals? This is largely a speculative category, but with some Biblical evidence, such as the horses that pull the chariots of fire in 2 Kings 2:11 and 6:17.) If bigfoot exists at all, it would likely be in either Category 3 or Category 4. Either way, next time I'm in the woods, I'll be carrying a Bible and a .450 Bushmaster just in case! |

Well, I’ve switched my Trunk Gun to a 35 Whelen M77 Alaskan. If I see the thing, the pix will get posted up here first. I’ve always thought of Bigfoot as a western thing. |

There's a lot of localized names for cyptids that have awfully similar descriptions, like the skunk ape in FL, yeti in the Himalayas, etc. So that might limit some of the reporting on sighting in the east. WV apparently is home to a pretty large bigfoot museum (as far as that thing goes) and seems to have a respectable number of reports from my quick check, mostly in the mountains. |

All of these people with genuine sightings are certainly seeing something... Here in FL., what most ppl don't know is that the central section of the peninsula (withe the exception of Orlando, ) is sparsely populated. Much of it is swamp, some hammocks, (dry land like a small island,) none of which is easily traversed unless you own specialized equipment. There's a lot of real estate out there that hasn't had a human set foot on it for decades. As far as the reported foul odor, it would have to be intense enough to overcome the ambient swamp stench. My days of bushwhacking thru the swamp with a carbine are long gone. Otherwise I'd be tempted to take a look for myself... ETA: this place is hell for land nav. Flat as a board, and the water has very little current to discern a direction. The safest way is to bushwhack toward a linear terrain feature and move on to the next one. You can sure get turned around out there in the swamp.. |
