I didn't read all replies.

Nice design. Could you put the coat closet straight ahead as you enter over the stairs to basement? Didn't try and do the math for head clearance. But those double doors hitting each other will turn into a pain. This would also allow you to slide the tub over, allowing for a larger window and toilet alcove. The small ones like in your design are a pain to clean.

also no provisions for a wood burning appliance?

Having owned a log cabin in northern Vt watch where they run the plumbing very carefully.

looking forward to construction photos!

An update. Been slaving at getting my renewable energy business off the ground the last 3 years. I just got the lot next to mine so no I have double the space to build the house. That will allow me a bit of buffer between neighbors.

Black lines will be driveway. tan will be where the house and garage will sit, light blue the property line, orange is the edge of the upper terrace, and dark blue the edge of the lower terrace.

Great score on the extra lot!  When we bought our land years ago the area seemed like wilderness.  Now it seems like there's too many folks around.  Wish we had the lots on both sides of us, one has a part timer cabin and the other is a nice treed lot.  Every time I see the owner of the treed lot we let him know we'd like to buy it.

This past year two lots on the drive in to our place have been developed into junky yards.

Just saw this.

Yes Battery management built in. They come in 24 and 48v so they go on bus bars. 10 Year Warranty. 10,000 cycles at 80% dod. I am running my cabin off 2 24v that replaced 8 L16 flooded and get the same usable amp hours. Can't charge them below freezing.

get Battleborn batteries, bar none the best out there. Buy bud has an off grid with 2 in in parallel at 12v. Can run a airfryer on an inverter no problem.

How close to fish creek are you? I clicked on your original link and it just showed the KGB area. Nice to know there are fellow arf members that close by. (I live in Palmer)

I was hoping to see the cabin come to fruition.  Not that I have any desire to live in AK but the thought of living somewhere quiet and peaceful and being self sufficient is appealing

it makes me sad that even in alaska you still have neighbors 50' from your house.  id build my house at the rear of the property op, and plant evergreens all over the place so i would not have to see their houses.

Agreed. He struck me as an intelligent and even handed person that added to ARF. I always looked forward to his updates on the cabin thread and honestly I was living vicariously through it.
