Stay the f off the subways.
I grew up in and around it and usually go back once or twice a year. Went back last year and almost found myself in jail for not letting one of the many angry black subway guys scream profanities at my 5 and 10 year old kids. The law there has been completely subverted. Never going back. |

In June of this year, the Supreme Court ruled in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen that New York's century-old proper cause gun licensing provision violates the Second Amendment Although I vehemently disagree with the Bruen decision, my administration is doing everything it can to implement the decision in a safe way. I have step kids here taking thier kid to NYC soon. They had never been there.
They are corn fed, 100% pure white bread rural upper midwest kids without a clue. They kind of have an idea of what they want to do. I tried to warn them about New Yorkers and told them to watch themselves while there. Everyone will be sizing them up and feeling them out for a scam. They believe in the kindness of others (both teachers) and told me they will just rely on Uber drivers to lead them to all the best places safely and efficiently. Looks like I can set 3 less places at Thanksgiving this year. |

Chicago is a cesspool of worthless libtard politicians and rotten in many neighborhoods.
But the lakefront, Loop, and other downtown areas are great. It’s a pretty city on the lakefront in the summer. Lots of good food, museums are great, the older architecture is incredible. But you gotta ignore the politics and many of the people who live there. |

Could drive there in about 8 hours. Of course then I'd have to pay for parking which costs what, about the same as my mortgage? Then all the leftist taxes, fees and surcharges they bleed tourists and residents with to support their socialist empire. And that's on top of their already jacked-up prices on everything. And find a hotel that isn't turned to shit housing illegals? Take my chances on the subways with the local animals? Saw it once from the air. I'm good with that.

If I had two days in the city, I would break it down into the following...
Day one: Tenement Museum, Katz's lunch, dive bar tour, pizza dinner, live jazz in a basement (Small's), night cap at a great bar. Day two: Uptown museum (Met, MoMA or Nat Hist), Central Park Zoo, Great Lunch, Hotel Bar cocktails, High-end dining, Live Brazilian Jazz (Zinc Bar), night cap at a great bar. |

Catching the staten island ferry at sunset is a fun and free option too if you're south side. Last year I was visiting my sister for Thanksgiving and finally went and saw the Ghostbusters building. No clue how I made it this many decades and visits and never did it until now lol. I once spent 3 months at West Point New York, deployed with the 101st airborne, from Kentucky to West Point, there to train cadets.
We were approx 1.5 hours from New York City, We had weekend trips to New York City at least 2x a month and I never once went. Spent my time fishing, drinking beer and grilling my caught fish. To date, I’m 55 and never been to NYC, and to date, Never once , not a single time have I ever regretted not going, or considered going. It’s not even on my top 100 places I’d ever like to vacation / visit either. Simply holds zero attraction to me, everything about it is a turn off. |

I agree with the OP. I have zero interest in going to NYC. I have no need to travel thousands of miles to a dangerous, shit ridden city run by communists who hate everything I stand for, just to get mugged on the subway while on the way to pay $10 for a bagel.
