As stated, I'm putting a DRO on this old lathe, as my eyes are even older! Now that DRO's are now very chap, and accurate, why not? I put a ToAuto model on my Sharp mill (Bridgeport clone) last year, and now I dont want to even turn on the lathe till I get this done!! I'm looking for photos / info on installing the glass scale on the cross-slide. I have some ideas, but if anybody has done this already, I could sure use some ideas / pointers. Thanks. |

I mounted mine on the cross slide between the ways on the backside of the carriage. It will limit how close the tail stock can get to the carriage. You could make brackets and have it protruding out the back side towards the chip guard. I think the downside is it would be hanging way out and catch stringy swarf. Whatever you choose, rigidity and some ability to shim or adjust is a must. |
