Well…hey…alright… Another Flock camera / ALPR thread I can post in. I started commenting about this in the spring of 2023 when I got a copy of my FBI/DOJ NCIC file. I started flipping through it. This was when I used to live in Illinois. So one whole page said something like “ACTIVE IL FOID CARD ON FILE”. Then the next whole page said “NO ACTIVE IL CCW PERMIT ON FILE”. Then I got to a page that had dates and times and locations listed on it. There were 4 separate dates listed there for calendar year 2022. They were inquiries or pings to my NCIC. I was thinking “Dang! I know I have a lead foot, but I know I didn’t get pulled over four times for speeding in 2022.” So I was left scratching my head. Two of the dates I do remember as legit encounters with LE. The other two still had me stumped. So I went through my work schedule. IIRC, it was when I took vacation in January 2022. Then it hit me, “A-ha!”” It was when I went to the World Shooting Complex in Sparta, IL to shoot trap. The other one….well…I started surfing through the pics on my phone. It was when I went to the Town and Country Gun Club in Maryville, IL. I just happened to take a pic of the indoor range they were building before I exited the gun club property. In the spring of 2023, I went looking for these ALPR’s. Sure enough there were two in Fayetteville, IL on Route 4 before getting to the World Shooting Complex. Then just a few doors down from the gun club entrance, there was some wheeled contraption parked next to the garage door. It had a solar panel on it. Ssssoooo….in my mind, this is the interesting part…. Because there were no other pings to my NCIC file from any other ALPR’s, anywhere, in my file for 2022. If you have an Illinois FOID card, then these ALPR’s must already know that. And their database has already tied your license plate number to your FOID. Once you are inside whatever geofence “they” put around a range, they ping your NCIC file. What I did notice on those two pings is that a “terminal identifier” or “terminal login” was missing. So somebody else at the federal level has some code written that mines the NCIC for pings missing that “terminal identifier” or “terminal login”, and if you have one of those “terminal-less” pings , this code lumps your name into the Bitter Gun Clinger pile. |

If license plate GOTIME is report stolen and a human enters the license plate FOTIME into a system that alerts them when it's seen then that is incorrect info from humans, not from flock. Put another way, if there were no errors in such systems would you be OK with them existing? You can oppose something without such evidence. Only control freaks and weak people support surveillance like this. |

Not all cameras are flock cameras. The gun club I belong to is in the desert, 30 minutes outside of the nearest town and we've had problems in the past with tresspassers, thefts, and vandalism. Most of the problems are the result of non-members following members through the controlled entrance gates. Members are told to be aware of this when entering and to not ket people follow them through, but non-members still get through. Cameras were put up at the entrance gates and they've been used by the club to identify the offenders. The images are not sent to the sheriff or feds. Like it or not, surveillance cameras still have legitimate uses. |

I think the latest one I heard of was a cruise line that does a background check on you. They let you board the ship. Then if you have outstanding warrants they call the sheriff’s department. Then deputies show up at your cabin door before the ship leaves the dock. They arrest you and perp walk you off the ship.  |
