Oh YouTube; next thing you know, I'm watching something about the Runit Tomb; where the Marshall Island's nuclear waste is stored, called the Runit Dome.  Here's a picture on it.

So I'm like, that's interesting!  And what's that crater thing right by it?!  Go fire up Google Earth, to poke around,  And the dome itself is a concrete colored grey circle.   It actually fooled me at first, since it sort of looks concrete grey and all....  But no, that's actually a grey circle they put there!  I didn't know Google Earth did such things.  So now I'm curious, what all do they block?  Can you request they block your house?

Anyway, I go back to the internets (which apparently is now owned and run by Google now that I think on it), and type in Nuclear bomb craters Marshall Islands:  And get this image:

So!  Big assed crater by dome is apparently  the KING bomb.  So, I wonder if I can Google the King bomb test:
and here we go (there's even a video for crying out loud).  IVY KING is actually an air-dropped bomb that was the worlds largest pure-fission based bomb, at 0.5 MegaTons.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivy_King

And there you go - the rest of your night is going to be blown now too.   So far I found KOA and Mike pretty easy.  A lot of the others aren't so obvious.

Also, is there a way to get a KMZ file of all the craters out there?  I bet they have some amazing stuff over in Russia.

Castle Bravo is the largest one.  I think the crater is a half mile wide.

They don't want you to see Godzilla's nest.

When the satelite takes the picture it's right on top the spot.

There is so much radiation leaking from that site, it messes up the lens sensor and makes it a grey blob

Do you have 3d buildings turned on? It might have rendered it in 3d. The automatically rendered structures are pretty close, but not quite accurate.

That's interesting.

OK, I go back to Google Earth and it has whatever default "layers" checked in it.  So I start unchecking them all - and tadaa!  Now it's clear just like you guys say.   So odd!

What's mind blowing, is the total mass converted into energy for that explosion, is on the order of about 2 lb.

That’s one of my favorite documentaries.  Narrated by The Shat, too.

I wonder how that effects things like gps guided bombs and missiles. Kind of intresting. I've always heard that cities like Washington DC and Moscow are intentionally confusing to make it more difficult on invading Army's.

Well, I'm sure we have mapped China using our system and know how to adjust things to theirs.

I don't remember what book it was, but they had a photo of the dome taken years ago and it was painted pink and someone put a dark red barrel in the center so that an aerial photo of it would look like a giant boob with a nipple.
