Army Lasers Blast Drones, Proving Directed-Energy Weapons Are Future Earlier this week, service members assigned to Joint Task Force Southern Border used the Army Multipurpose High Energy Laser system to stop three hostile, unmanned aircraft systems deemed a threat. They were believed to be linked to drug cartels. "The successful defeat of these adversarial drones is a direct testament to the readiness, vigilance and technological edge of the [joint task force]," said Army Maj. Gen. Curtis Taylor, Joint Task Force Southern Border commander. "By integrating layered countermeasures alongside advanced directed-energy capabilities like this laser system, we have made it clear that we will not tolerate hostile surveillance." The operation marks the first use of the laser system to defeat cartel-linked drones along the southern border. Using directed-energy weapons, such as this, is part of the future of warfare, a War Department official said. "The future of warfare obviously is going to include mass attritable drones," the official added. The department will procure hundreds of thousands of drones as soon as next year, as well as counter-UAS technology, including directed-energy systems. "The department is proliferating directed-energy technology to protect the homeland and the southern border," the official said. "And [U.S. Northern Command and Joint Task Force Southern Border are] deploying these capabilities to take out any ... cartel drones that are doing incursions at the border." Directed-energy weapons, such as lasers, can be used to take out both drones and incoming cruise missiles, at a much lower cost than using more expensive kinetic weapons like missiles. Developing scaled directed energy weapons systems, such as what was used at the border, is one of the department's six critical technology areas. The other areas include: applied artificial intelligence, biomanufacturing, contested logistics technologies, quantum and battlefield information dominance, and scaled hypersonics. "[Directed-energy systems are] low cost per shot, with deep magazines and they can come out against drone swarms," the official said. "That's something that's different than a traditional kinetic system. It's good for the cost-exchange ratio because ... it's better than us firing a $2 million missile at [an inexpensive] drone." The use of directed-energy weapons on drones is also in line with the department's counter-drone effort, the official noted. In June, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth visited White Sands Missile Range, New Mexico, where he observed a variety of directed-energy systems in operation, including the first milestone test of the Golden Dome for America. "Cutting-edge directed energy was harnessed, and the Dynamic Defense Autonomous Defeat system flawlessly and autonomously cued, targeted and eliminated a multitude of incoming threats," the secretary said. "This test was executed on schedule and dynamically defeated every threat. I watched our elite warfighters integrate with next-generation technology to stop incoming drones and cruise missiles dead in their tracks." In July, the War Department awarded two agreements under the Joint Laser Weapon System program to advance the next-generation cruise missile and unmanned aerial system defense architecture. The agreements have an initial award value of $86 million and a total program ceiling of $847 million. The Joint Laser Weapon System program is meant to transition directed-energy capabilities from demonstration prototypes into field-ready, production-oriented platforms. "We must actively defend the homeland against emerging threats," said Emil Michael, undersecretary of war for research and engineering and chief technology officer for the War Department. "We are partnering with industry to rapidly deliver deep magazine directed energy capabilities to the joint force that can be seamlessly deployed across multiple domains." EXCLUSIVE: US Government Analysis of Suspect Device is 'Far Advanced' TOP LINE: NEW FINDINGS While the U.S. government’s undercover operation to obtain a device that may be behind debilitating brain and neurological injuries known as Havana Syndrome has been widely reported, I am sharing new findings about the technical analysis. The findings matter because I have confirmed a new cluster of suspected directed energy attacks on U.S. soil. DEEP DIVE: 'THEIR FINGERPRINTS ARE ALL OVER IT' Attribution for a device obtained by the U.S. government and suspected of a link to Havana Syndrome is 'far advanced,' according to national security sources, based on where and how it was obtained as well as analysis of the device’s technical signature. I am told the device’s components are indicative of a particular actor whose research and development of directed-energy technology is well known to the U.S. intelligence and defense communities. In the same way a homemade bomb or improvised explosive device has unique hallmarks of its bomb maker, the same can be said of the assembly of directed-energy devices. In this case, I understand the technical analysis has revealed a distinct signature. National security sources stopped short of explicitly naming the likely adversary, but said the findings have “their fingerprints all over it.” While the device is described as portable, and programmable, those who investigate directed-energy technology acknowledge the likelihood of multiple devices in existence, as well as proliferating technology. SPIKE IN REPORTED DOMESTIC INCIDENTS Earlier this month, I exclusively revealed that more than two dozen suspected incidents have recently been reported inside the United States, including a significant cluster of cases at an off-site U.S. government intelligence and research facility in Northern Virginia, according to my sources. Further, within the last three months, I understand that at least two senior U.S. government personnel working on directed-energy-related projects have reported suspected directed energy incidents in the greater Washington, D.C., area. The mysterious constellation of injuries known as Havana Syndrome takes its name from a cluster of cases in Cuba in 2016. Many subsequent cases involved government personnel whose portfolios touched on Russia or perceived Russian interests. It impacts spies, diplomats, military personnel and civilians. U.S. GOVERNMENT PERSONNEL INVESTIGATING DIRECTED ENERGY TECHNOLOGY REPORT BEING TARGETED In what may be a significant departure from previous targeting, I have documented a cluster of cases, several in 2021, involving U.S. government personnel investigating directed-energy weapon technology, as well as efforts to reverse-engineer a directed-energy device. Some victims report multiple attacks over a period of months, including at their government workplace and at their home. A working theory is that the initial incident or 'priming attack' confirms the target, in addition to injuring the brain. The follow-on, or “finishing,” attacks inflict even more damage to an already weakened individual. Experts in the field emphasize the injuries can get progressively worse over time. In February, in his first on-camera interview, a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Space Force, whom I agreed to call “Chris,” detailed five separate directed-energy weapon attacks at his Northern Virginia home throughout 2020. His wife, “Heidi,” a civilian is collateral damage in the attacks. Chris said the directed-energy exposure caused more than 40 confirmed symptoms, including traumatic brain injury (TBI) and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which have been validated as “service connected” by VA records. He attributed the attacks to Russia targeting his classified intelligence work and links Russia to prior surveillance. Chris urged full U.S. government acknowledgment, including the Purple Heart, to counter this evolving threat. Chris and Heidi were later interviewed by 60 Minutes. Chris and Heidi’s unique injuries were an indicator that there may be a shift in targeting and an evolution and/or refinement of the technology. TECHNOLOGY HAS EVOLVED AND PROLIFERATED Injuries affecting the autonomic nervous system are now being reported by Havana Syndrome survivors. The autonomic nervous system controls involuntary body processes such as breathing, digestion, body temperature, and heart rate. For example, some Havana Syndrome survivors report heart arrhythmia, even being candidates for pacemakers, after a suspected directed-energy incident. SPY-ON-SPY HARASSMENT Havana Syndrome survivors also describe harassment: surveillance, slashed car tires, dead animals on their doorsteps, and evidence of home intrusions such as cigarette butts and hairs—the trademark of a foreign intelligence service. Sources report the harassment looks identical to what you would see and expect in overseas postings in hostile nations. A kind of old-school spy-on-spy harassment. Asked in my July interview if the CIA supported DNI Gabbard’s investigation into injured government personnel, CIA whistleblower James Erdman III said his team uncovered a whistleblower complaint that Havana Syndrome documents were destroyed. “I can’t go into too much detail other than to say that information was given to the CIA to take action. It was passed from the principal deputy director’s office over to the deputy director’s office, as I understand it, and nothing has happened. The individual responsible for destroying those records still works at the Counterintelligence Mission Center.” In April 2025, my investigation with former counterintelligence officer Mike Beck revealed the progressive nature of these brain injuries. Beck was hit in 1996, diagnosed with a Parkinson’s-like disorder, and passed away earlier this year. In response to my investigation, DNI Gabbard launched a review of two Biden-era intelligence assessments that had concluded it was highly unlikely a foreign adversary and novel weapon were involved. DEFECTIVE BIDEN-ERA INTELLIGENCE REPORTS RECALLED In one of her last acts as the nation’s top intelligence official, then-DNI Gabbard retracted the two defective Biden-era assessments into Havana Syndrome or Anomalous Health Incidents (AHIs.) Erdman said a final report, by DNI Gabbard’s investigative team known as the Director's Initiatives Group or DIG, is still not public, among other outstanding issues. “I think it’s very, very important that the government declassify all information related to that acquisition. It’s already in the public press. I think it’s important to have a full public hearing on things that are harming not just intelligence officers, but the Department of War, military personnel, civilians. So I sincerely hope that part of the declassification efforts that go forward address all aspects of what has come out in public reporting,” Erdman said. I twice asked the CIA, DoW, DHS, and DNI for comment about the analysis of the device, the uptick in suspected domestic attacks, the status of the DNI Gabbard report and other related matters. While the CIA confirmed receipt of my questions, no responses were provided. I will update my reporting if and when comment becomes available.

Could someone provide cliff notes with some sort of details for the rest of us? Reading quickly through, I got that - some US folks got hit by some sort of energy (My iphone is doing that to me now, I need more specifics on how this case is nefarious) - the US used directed energy attacks to down some cartel drones Those two things are incongruous to me. Gramps was an EMC on the USS IOWA, during WW2. One of his jobs was de-gaussing the hull, so he knew about magnetism, electrical fields, etc. The early radar antennas put out so much energy they fried seagulls that got too close mid-flight. Old school cops running radar using the old X band handheld units would shoot radar and then put them in their lap when not in use. A bunch wound up with testicular cancer. EMF is not to be messed with. |

One of the facilities I used to work at had a very large, high-powered antenna array that had an entire doorway covered with 'DO NOT WALK IN FRONT OF ARRAY. YOU WILL DIE. RADIATION RISK!' signs and yet every few months some moron contractor would ignore the signs and get rushed to the ER. You would be AMAZED at the tissue damage that RF radiation can do, how fast it can happen. Flashover is fucking scary as shit, too. |

What exactly is there to get amped up about here? The little information that has been floating around and seems reasonable from basic principles is that what is going on is radio frequency energy at specific frequencies and modulation techniques that results in physiological/neurological injuries. Anybody remember an article in SOF mag where a Marine 1 was shot down by some electrical weapon near the White House during the Clinton years? The pilot's bodies were burned? They had pics of the wreckage? |
|
Found it! On the morning of May 19, 1993, Staff Sergeant Brian Haney, Marine Sergeant Tim Sabel, Major William Barkley and Captain Scott Reynolds died in a US Marine Corps helicopter crash in Blossom Point, Maryland. The helicopter was one of a small fleet that transported the president. Archaeologist Frank Owens and his assistant witnessed the helicopter flying over them. Thirty minutes later, they discovered the crash site in a clearing. The local authorities arrived within minutes. The wreckage was scattered across an acre of forest. Within an hour, a heavily armed unit of Marines secured the area. Three months later, the Marines issued its final report on the crash. They concluded that the crash had been caused by mechanical failure due to faulty maintenance. When Frank Owens read the report, he felt that something was not right. In the weeks following the crash, he had spent time at the crash site erecting a memorial for the crew. The report stated that all debris and jet fuel had been cleaned up from the site. Frank, however, claims that he found and collected forty-three pounds of wreckage from the site. He decided to start his own investigation into the crash. As a result, he attracted the attention of several military and weapons researchers. Journalist James Pate felt that it was very suspicious that the military did not collect all of the wreckage from the crash site. He noted that with the crash of TWA Flight 800, investigators spent weeks picking up wreckage from the ocean floor in order to re-assemble the plane as best as possible. This was not done with the helicopter crash. According to the official report, the crash was caused by improperly installed roll pins. The pins are two-inch metal rods that connect the transmission with the engine. Frank spoke with the workers who installed the roll pins and they claimed that they properly installed them. An investigator noted that, if the roll pin had been improperly installed, the helicopter would have not been able to fly in the first place. After studying the flight path of the helicopter, Frank and electronics specialist Craig Coley noticed that the pilot made an extreme u-turn. This meant that the pilot realized that something was wrong with the helicopter and was trying to turn around to make an emergency landing. Despite the fact that there was an open field in front of him, the pilot kept flying and crashed into the woods. Craig wondered if the pilot's vision was impaired by an unknown force. James Pate believes that the helicopter crashed due to exposure from microwave radiation. Allegedly, a system was developed during the 1980s that used microwave energy. It was designed to disrupt electronic equipment in aircraft and missiles. The helicopter would have been far more susceptible to a microwave weapon because it would directly interfere with the flight control electronics. Tests with microwave energy have shown that a person's vision would most likely be affected first because it heats the fluid in one's eyes. The Army has apparently experimented with high-power microwave technology. However, most experts say that an actual delivery system is not yet a reality. According to James Benford, president of Microwave Sciences, there are no high-powered microwave weapons in existence yet. The only testing done has been to see if military technology is affected by microwave energy. However, some believe that microwave weapons do exist and were tested at a facility in Blossom Point. The facility was five miles from the crash site. Frank Owens believes that a high-powered microwave is the only way to explain unusual burn marks on each of the victims' bodies. A burns specialist examined the burn marks and could not say what caused it. The military attributed the marks to chemical burns from spilled fuel. However, the burns specialist does not believe that the fuel could have caused the marks. Recently, Frank Owens indefinitely suspended his investigation out of respect for the victims' families. The Marine Corps considers the case closed. https://unsolvedmysteries.fandom.com/wiki/US_Marine_Corps_Helicopter_Crash |

Old thread: https://www.ar15.com/forums/General/60-Minutes-reports-on-Havana-Syndrome/5-2836754/ Something else came to mind. Seem to remember a report that said something to the effect that an AI system had access to old CIA research and claimed that it could reprogram cell phone base stations and kill most of the population of the country. Some kind of mechanism similar to the havana syndrome system would have to be the way it would work. If true to any degree, the CIA/intel community knows how the system works. It may be a case of the ramifications of the technology are so dire that it's just stonewalled at every level to try to keep it under wraps. If the technical specifications were somehow leaked the consequences would be really, really bad. Really bad. |

I don’t think the government wants to admit these attacks were real because of the implications. If true, at least one foreign government has the ability to do clandestine operations pretty much wherever they want and they’re confident there won’t be consequences for harming Americans. |
