Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) condemned the myriad anti-Israel protests taking place across college campuses in the United States, warning that similar protests in Florida would not be tolerated.

The governor argued that these protesters are interfering with people’s everyday lives when they block bridges or traffic and that the state of Florida would not permit such behavior. He pointed to the recent arrests that Miami police made when the protesters were interfering with traffic, noting how the situation was resolved “in 10 minutes.”

“When you’re chasing Jewish students around, when you’re not letting a Jewish professor enter a building, when you’re targeting people like that, that’s not free speech,” DeSantis said. “That’s harassment. That violates appropriate conduct. And yet at Columbia, Yale, all these places, those guys, those folks rule the roost! They do whatever they want!”

DeSantis then condemned the school administrations and presidents for not standing up for their Jewish students and professors, stating that the leaders are “weak” and “scared.” He warned Florida students from conducting these types of protests on campus, saying that any students holding protests against Jews would be expelled.

Last year, the state university system of Florida declared that campus chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine must be “deactivated” due to their support for the Hamas terrorist group. The decision was made in consultation with DeSantis.

On Wednesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) visited Columbia University, which has received the most attention for its protests. The House speaker has called for President Joe Biden to bring in the National Guard to protect Jewish students on campus, a move that Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Josh Hawley (R-MO) have spoken in favor of.

Biden has condemned the “vile” reports of antisemitism on display from some protesters while also voicing compassion for Gaza residents. When asked about Johnson’s demand for the National Guard, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters they had not received a call from the speaker’s office.

I support any kind of protest as 1st amendment right but that's not what these protest are.

They are intentionally organized to be violent in nature by the groups .

That's not protesting

Correct.

Harassment, intimidation, and threats of violence aren’t protected by the 1A.

A riot is not a protest. If you interfer with others or destroy property that is a riot.

What's really going to have an effect is when businesses start announcing that they will no longer accept resumes from colleges that fail to deal with this violence.

I have leftist co-workers who say I'm a hypocrite for not being a free-speech absolutist  regarding student protest.  I remind them they never spoke up during woke cancel culture on hate speech, police cracking down during covid, or the weaponization of the justice system against conservatives.  Enjoy getting bit by the monster you feed.

If you are claiming to be a member of a terrorist organization - shouting "We are Hamas" and shouting threats - "Death to America!"

I believe you are a legitimate threat to my safety and to the safety of those around you.

legally what can I do or not do, being in fear for my life?

I think that any reasonable person should be able to articulate genuine fear.

Not calling for violence, just pointing out that someone else is...

why doesn't the police see it this way?

Also an interesting way to find out how many of the protestors are actually students.

I'm betting it's a very, very low percentage.

Florida's flagship university is making it clear that the disruptive anti-Israel protests occurring at colleges across the U.S. will not be tolerated on its campuses...
...The school said anyone engaged in the prohibited activities listed in its directive face being trespassed, and students who break the rules will be banned from the campus for three years and suspended...
...Employees of the university, including professors, who engage in the prohibited activities face termination...
...When reached for comment about the memo, University of Florida VP of Communications James Wegmann told FOX Business, "This is Adulting 101: Actions have consequences."

There's another consequence of participating in these mob actions: inability to find a job.
Wonder if the parents realize how much they risk in losing that $40k-90k per year "investment" they made in their snowflake's future.
The growing number of anti-Israel protests on college campuses could jeopardize a student's prospect of securing a job, especially on Wall Street, experts tell FOX Business.

"We have seen offers revoked from candidates who have been publicly recognized, especially through social media, for controversial behavior and engaging in hate speech," Emily Levine, executive vice president at Career Group Companies, told FOX Business...
