Just came across this one for sale for $70 (Shop HQ). Looks like an SKX with quartz movement.  Has a lot of features that I prefer: quartz, 41mm case, offset crown. If it had tritium lume, it would be my perfect watch.

Seems like a no-brainer at $70 to replace my beater (beat to crap for 20 years) Luminox.  I was waiting for a Momentum sale to grab a Sea Quartz, but if the Deep Blue is decent, I'll grab one.

Anyone have an opinion on Deep Blue or specifically this watch?

I just posted on the What Watch are you wearing today about my Deep Blue DAYNIGHT T100 that I have head close to a decade.  It's a solid relatively inexpensive watch that I have taken all over the world, from Galapagos to Mediterranean with never a single issue.

Puts up with abuse and other than scuffs a the bottom of the clasp it looks almost brand new.

Cheap enough that taking it to questionable countries is not an issue for me, in terms of it being stolen or lost.

Heavy and big, and while yours is smaller at 41 mm, based on my experience with the watch I would recommend Deep Blue.

Thanks.  I went ahead and ordered it.  I've been waiting for years for Seiko to reissue the 7548, but it doesn't look like it is going to ever happen.  This thing is close enough.

Well, I'm going to go with a build it yourself quartz diver.
Found plastic movement holders to hold an VH31 quartz movement in an NH series case !
A VH31 is a 3 hand quartz movement,  but sweeps, not ticks. I ordered 5 holders, and 2 movements to start.
I dearly love all the automatic watches I've made, but a few, grab and go divers sounds good.

You can make your own watch to anything you'd like. Accurate time keeping, stainless cases, Seiko movements, sapphire crystals,  and whatever hands you find that draw the eye for a quick glance at the time.
There's nothing a watch costing thousands of dollars can do that you can't make for pennies on the dollar.

Sounds interesting.  Do you start with a donor watch or buy all of the parts new?  Where do you buy parts?  How do you know what works together.

All new parts, so your building a brand new watch.
Cases will say what movements fit.
There are several places to buy parts. Some say the sellers based in conus have better parts, but from my experience, they look just like the parts I get off AliX at cheaper pricing.
I'm only going on 3 years in building watches. There is still alot I don't know, or I haven't tried. I have about 70 watches under my belt now. It's a great hobby, but addicting. You can't make just 1 !

Scroll down and read the build your own thread. It has several.

I received the watch yesterday.  Really impressed with it for the price that I paid.  The second hand hits the indices perfectly, the lume is great, and the size is perfect.  The rubber strap fit a bit weird, but I prefer Nato straps anyways.  I through an olive Zulu strap that I had laying around, and it is really comfortable.  I think that I will order a single pass nylon strap for it.
