NASA TO RELEASE IMAGES OF 3I/ATLAS: Better late than never. This Wednesday, NASA will release images of interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS including highly-anticipated data from the HiRISE camera onboard Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter. Obtained on Oct. 2nd when 3I/ATLAS made a close approach to Mars, HiRISE images have a spatial resolution of only 30 km per pixel with a side view of the comet's anti-tail and jets. The live event begins at 3 pm EST on Nov. 19th. https://science.nasa.gov/solar-system/comets/3i-atlas/ |

HiRISE Images 3I/ATLAS_text Oct. 2, 2025: MRO An annotated version of the image of 3I/ATLAS captured by NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter shows the trajectory of the interstellar comet along with a scale bar. The image was captured by the spacecraft's High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on Oct. 2, 2025.. Image Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/University of Arizona MAVEN sees 3I/ATLAS in UV_text Sept. 28, 2025: MAVEN An ultraviolet image composite of the hydrogen atoms surrounding comet 3I/ATLAS, the third interstellar object ever detected by astronomers, as it passes through our solar system. This image was taken on Sept 28, 2025- just days before the comet's closest approach to Mars - by an instrument on NASA's MAVEN spacecraft, which has been studying Mars from orbit since 2014. The instrument, the Imaging Ultraviolet Spectrograph, takes pictures in the ultraviolet part of the spectrum to reveal the chemical composition of objects. The image shows hydrogen emitted from different sources: the comet (dim spot on the far left), hydrogen from Mars (bright emission on the right), and hydrogen flowing through our solar system between the planets (dim emission in the middle). MAVEN's spectrograph distinguished the comet's hydrogen from the interplanetary and Martian hydrogen using a special mode to separate each source by its speed. Hydrogen emission from the comet is confined to the location of the comet on the sky, which is why it is small and round instead of extended. Image Credit: NASA/Goddard/LASP/CU Boulder ![]() MAVEN sees 3I/ATLAS halo_text Oct. 9, 2025: MAVEN This image shows the halo of gas and dust, or coma, surrounding comet 3I/ATLAS, the third interstellar object ever detected by astronomers as it passes through our solar system. The image was taken on Oct. 9, 2025, by an instrument onboard NASA's MAVEN spacecraft, which has been studying Mars from its orbit since 2014. The instrument, the Imaging Ultraviolet Spectrograph, takes pictures in the ultraviolet part of the spectrum to reveal the chemical composition of objects. The center of the image has the brightest pixel, indicating where the comet is. The next brightest shades in the image indicate areas where the instrument detected atoms of hydrogen coming from the comet. This hydrogen is released when sunlight heats the comet, causing its water ice to turn directly into vapor. Once released into space, the water molecules break apart into oxygen and hydrogen atoms. I haven't looked through my Celestron but it's not on the scale of the ones these guys are using. I have no interest in searching their site for photos. I'll wait and see what the other so called experts have to say because I have zero faith in anything NASA does or says these days. They have repeatedly shown their true colors. |

If I had to describe that NASA briefing in one word: "patronizing". They made sure to use the word "comet" over and over and over, then explained shit like a combo of thinking we're all 8 years old while begging for a bigger budget. Just pathetic and certainly doesn't help dispel the distrust people have in NASA. |
Everything posted above is factual. Maybe.

"Here are more REAL images of 3I/ATLAS, We do see a small "black" circle (when inverted) at the center, but also see an anti-tail, a big gas coma, and a long fluffy tail. The central "black" region does not suddenly "cut off" in a radial sense, but varies gradually with different shades of intensity, going from in to out. So it is easy to tell that NASA have faked the Hi-Res image to make it totally FEATURELESS. Even though this was supposed to be the highest resolution photo available! 🤡" Pictures are in the post and replies. |

I don’t like making plans for the day. Because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around in the courtroom.

I think* that could be “bokeh” effects on a digital sensor with too much zoom? But I thought it cool enough to see what y’all though. Of course Reddit is hopping on the train that’s the actual object. I will say, we see something like that, and it will fire up the imagination. Thats what i think a solar sail would look like. |

Avi has to be working off information the public doesn't have. https://avi-loeb.medium.com/a-remarkable-new-anomaly-of-3i-atlas-420065c2cddf “In other words, the non-gravitational acceleration introduced a small course correction of exactly the magnitude needed to bring the minimum distance of 3I/ATLAS from Jupiter to the value of Jupiter’s Hill radius. 3I/ATLAS would have missed the edge of the Hill sphere otherwise. This suggests that the level of non-gravitational acceleration was finely tuned to result in min{D}=H and bring 3I/ATLAS exactly to the radius of Jupiter’s gravitational influence. If 3I/ATLAS is technological in origin, it might have fine-tuned its trajectory with the help of thrusters so as to arrive at Jupiter’s Hill radius. In that case, the multiple jets observed around 3I/ATLAS in its post-perihelion images (as reported here, here, here and here) might have been used for the slight orbit correction needed to result in min{D}=H. The optimal time for any such maneuver is close to perihelion when a spacecraft can take advantage of the gravitational assist from the Sun (as pointed out here). In addition, 3I/ATLAS arrived at perihelion while being hidden behind the Sun for Earth-based observatories. We therefore do not know whether it just maneuvered slightly to satisfy min{D}=H or also released technological devices near perihelion.” |

Avi Loeb has lost all credibility right up until the moment these out-of-solar-system objects stop, back up, and drop into orbit around something. Anything. What's happening right now is we, as a species, for the first time, have the ability to observe interstellar objects passing through our solar system. Every single thing we see from here on out is unique. Special. One-of-a-kind. Right up until we've seen it twice, thrice, a dozen times. Then it's not special anymore. 3I. Third interstellar object. Ever. Ever. No matter what it does, no matter what people claim it's doing...until it's parked in orbit somewhere, it's nothing more than a random interstellar visitor whipping through the solar system. There are SO MANY other explanations for it that the concept is ridiculous. What's NOT ridiculous is "the phenomenon." We simply don't have that explanation yet. Is it coming? I hope so. Is it temporal? Spiritual? Physical? Something else? I don't have that answer yet. But it's not 3I/Atlas. If I'm wrong, and it turns out 3I/Atlas IS the phenomenon, well...I guess I'll be standing alongside everyone else here, AR in hand (since that's kind of the point of this forum), waiting to see what lands. What should terrify everyone here is simple...if it impacted our planet, you should have already been done with wishing your family goodbye. I the past 4.5 billion years, how many of these objects do you think have gone past? Not to mention the billions of Oort cloud, Kuiper belt, and other objects swarming around us constantly. SPACE IS FUCKING DANGEROUS. WE'RE LUCKY ANY OF US ARE HERE, TO EXAMINE AND QUESTION WHAT'S ZIPPING PAST US. Does anyone here really, REALLY, think 3I/Atlas is an alien space probe? There are SO MANY other explanations for it that the concept is ridiculous. What's NOT ridiculous is "the phenomenon." We simply don't have that explanation yet. Is it coming? I hope so. Is it temporal? Spiritual? Physical? Something else? I don't have that answer yet. But it's not 3I/Atlas. If I'm wrong, and it turns out 3I/Atlas IS the phenomenon, well...I guess I'll be standing alongside everyone else here, AR in hand (since that's kind of the point of this forum), waiting to see what lands. Spoiler alert...nothing from our interstellar vagrant. Avi Loeb is either a lunatic or a psyop agent. But, that's par for the course for Harvard. Careful man, facts aren't allowed in this forum. Only wild, unsupported speculation. Avi is just trying to get people to consider other possibilities instead of bending over backwards to explain everything away as mundane. |

The problem with interstellar objects, at this point in humanity’s existence, if we only have an N of 1. It’s impossible to make any kind of assumptions until we have a bigger sample size |
ProTip: Never pick a fight with a tree planter. He swings a hoedad for 9 hours a day, carries 30-40 pounds of seedlings on his back, and has 12-14 friends just like him hiding out on the other side of the junk butt pile. They will fuck your shit up.

Of course it's unprecedented, it's only the 3rd interstellar object we've tracked. Ever. We don't have a clue what's normal and what's not |

I don’t like making plans for the day. Because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around in the courtroom.
