Wow. Such great Star Wars tonight.
Mandalorian episode was off the charts greatness. The critter in the mech suit was so cool. Bo Katan was so awesome - such a space milf she is. Bas Batch was just amazing storytelling and character development. I really like Crosshair and his arc trajectory is shaping up nicely. It's going to suck when he sacrifices himself to save his brothers when they eventually make it to Mt Tantus. |

Had to watch it again and have to repeat again that this should've been episode 1
I'd like to know the backstory of that creature/machine thing. What species is it? How'd it end up on Mandalore? How did it up finding a crab droid (of all things)? Ending was great, I think this is going to be a great season with hopefully the most action seen yet. |
|
|
I’m wondering if the Mandalorian show is moving away from the side quests formula now that he’s been redeemed. The trailers have made this season look like Mandalorian Civil War pt 87.
|
|
|
Most everything about this episode was awesome. If the rest of the season is nothing but watching Bo Katan walk, especially the rear shots, I wouldn't complain

I rewatched it again later in the evening.
I'm also wondering about the droid/mech thing that reminded me of General Grevious, but much more gnarly. Either way, it was super cool. I'm starting to wonder who the villain will be this season? I was initially thinking it was Bo Katan, but the fact she didn't kill Din and take the darksaber - even returning it after using it - makes me wonder if she realizes the path of rule isn't her way anymore. I agree that she seemed impressed with Din's conviction to the creed. If she decides to ally herself with him (and isn't planning to challenge him at a later date), then who's the big bad? The armorer? A yet unnamed Mando Clan? And did anyone catch the throwaway comment on Tattoine about Boba and the Hutts? It sounded like the Hutts have put out a hit on Boba. I think I heard Peli Motto ask Din if he was there to take out Boba. |

My guess is it will cause Bo a spiritual revival. While the creature was not the source of the Mandalorian's power - it is a in a way a key feature within it. It was at the core of their of a change that happened in their civilization. It in part created their leadership dynasty. It is very tied to rise of Mandalor the First, who united them. Kind of like a King, who's legacy arose from his leadership in battle - battles where he road a great war horse charging the way. Now the war horse has returned - accept this time it is a war horse the size of a small town.
Googled some of the backstory - and it is somewhat inconstant. Most say that it was the prodomenent species on a planet the Mandalorians wanted to take for their own, and Mandalor the first led the extermination campaign. Other's put that more in the background, but that Mandalor the First managed to tame one as a steed - effectively ridding a giant dragon into combat. In a way, it was the most powerful weapon of their early civilization. The dark saber is said to allow a Mandalorian to kill 20x more in combat. I suspect the Mandalor would be like 100k more. --- Bo jumped in immediately and used her rocket pack to get to Mandor. Mandor could not have fallen that fast - something besides gravity was propelling him. |

Great episode. Bo Katan has a nice ass.

It was a Mythosaur. The plaque Bo-Katan read said those mines were rumored to be its lair in ancient times. You'd also notice the Armorer has similar markings on some of her stuff. It's a symbol used throughout Mandalorian culture. |

Also surprised there wasn't a pod racing reference thrown in since it was Boonta Eve. As far as Bo-Katan, I think she's resigned to being the failure she is, but sees in Din the warrior that could unite their people, and by extension possibly redemption for herself. She also seems to have a strange attachment to him. Ready to run him off as soon as his ship landed, but immediately flew to his rescue when she knew he was in trouble. |

Din himself has some character growth he needs to go through. Right now, the Dark Saber is fighting him, but it does not fight Bo. As it's a sentient weapon, it seems to feel that Bo aligns with the Mandalore ethos and Din does not. Din has serious issues with clans that do not align with Deathwatch and he needs to get over that if he's going to be a unifier instead of a divider.
Also, the Armorer had stated that the Mythosaur would herald the beginning of a new Mandalore. So...rebuilding and reuniting? Nick |

Answering some questions:
The Mythosaur is an ancient specias native to Mandalore. They were thought to be extinct (until S3E2). In Legends, Manda'lor the first tamed one and united the clans of Mandalore under his leadership. This is why the Mandalorian signet is the Mythosaur skull (first seen in ESB on Boba Fett's left shoulder pad). Tarre Vizsla was the first known force sensitive Mandalorian. He became a Jedi and created the Darksaber. He eventually came to rule Mandalore. After his death, the Darksaber was kept in the Jedi Temple. The members of Clan Vizsla broke into the temple and stole the darksaber. It has since come to be know as whomever holds the darksaber becomes the next Manda'lor (ruler of Mandalorians). The condition is that it must be won in combat. Tarre Vizsla is the ancestor of Pre Vizsla (seen in clone wars) and Paz Vizsla (seen in The Mandalorian). Mandalor the First and Tarre Vizsla are 2 different people, existing at 2 different times. |

It shows that for Din for wanting to be renewed as a true Mandalorian, he needs guidance. Who better else to guide him than Bo Katan? I mean, she's been doing it longer, knows Mandalore (the planet and people) better than pretty much anyone alive, and she really isn't a slouch in combat. Plus, it sets it up for her faith in the Mandalore creed to be renewed. That's something as well. It's like a buy one/get one free on character critical path development. |
