They can take the helmet off, and they do all the time, just not in the presence of others. So hygiene and eating is not a problem. Dental work could be.

Bo: I'm going to get rid of this guy for good.

Guy isn't in the ship.

Bo: Now I have to go save him.

The member suggesting that perhaps armorer is Bo Katan's mother is interesting and could be a nice pay off.

The theories of cloning tying into Thrawn could be interesting and the pay off for why we had 40 minutes of boring shit would be worth it.

But the fact that Asoka is coming and this season may all be a play up to delivering that series could be a let down.

Why?  She wielded it when she ruled Mandalore after the Jedi made her regent.  It was given to her by Sabine.  It's not like that was her first time handling it.

I like the thought of the Armorer being Rook instead. Makes more sense than Ursa Wren.

As an aside there, Ursa had a helmet that was a in the form of a stylized bear.  Rook, as a former follower of Maul, had the same style horned helmet we see the Armorer wear.

I’m glad I’m not alone.  I don’t remember where I heard it but when who we thought was the baddest guy in the galaxy has to say “I want them alive, no disintegrations” with a finger point you know you are dealing with someone on another level.

Rook is the obvious choice, I agree.

I think there's something else going on that has to do with the whole not removing the helmet thing, but we'll see.

They almost had the Vong in the Clone Wars series. During the actual Cloen Wars, the Vong sent an advance scouting party and they were confronted by some Clone Troopers and Jedi.

They don't take the helmet off in front of another person. It isn't that they don't take it off, forever. If they're in a tent with the flap closed and they're by themselves. Helmet can come off.

Ok, E3 was mostly filler.  Perhaps it will go somewhere, but it was largely wasted time watching it.

Part of me thinks that ambition/desire to rule/leadership is the force behind the Dark Saber.  Mando does not desire leadership, and it is heavy on him.  Din was raised for it and finds it a light burden and a source of power.

Even if it does go somewhere it’ll likely tie into the Disney trilogy so, either way, “largely wasted time” is right.

Theoretically, could a Mandalorian take 50+ gallons from the living waters, take off his helmet in front of others every day, dunk himself in the water every night, and every morning wake up “redeemed” according to the letter of the “law”?

Depends on what your definition of “in” and “on” is.    Says to bath in the living water on Mandalore.    Not “from” Mandalore….

So basically relies on the honor of the individual Mandalorian right?

Technically it’s “one may only be redeemed in the living waters beneath the mines of Mandalore."

It could be argued that the living waters are all that matter and the “beneath the mines of Mandalore” is simply telling you where to find the living waters.

Ezra is one of the most powerful force users of beast control. If he's back it would be an easy storyline to write that he helps tame the mythosaur.

It was obvious to me Bo Katan's intentions were to tame the mythosaur as a way to prove her right to the throne. The darksaber doesn't mean much if she re-founds Manadalore and their cultutre in the same way as Mandalore the Great.

Of course, Din will be the leader that everyone wants when it comes down to it. Maybe they get married and rule together and kiss a lot.

Can someone help me out here.

What was the purpose of spending half of this episode on the set up of the scientist that worked for Gideon? It was predictable as shit from the onset of how they re-introduced both characters (scientist and the chick that set him up).

Initially I thought this was going to turn into some long game side plot. But instead, lets play nice with him, take him on scenic dates around town and then lure him to a VSD to get some antiquated research materials only to have him arrested and then sent to get his mind fucked with. And then after all of that, turn the power up to 11.

What was the point of any of that as far as the story or anything at all? I feel like I am completely missing something for them to spend 50% of an episode on what came across to me as something inconsequential for two characters no one really gives a shit about.

Likely laying the groundwork for how the First Order came into existence. I previously likened it to Hydra living inside Shield prior to the events of "The Winter Soldier".

She's part of something nefarious, and frying Pershing's mind was key to keeping that quiet.

Even my wife, who is not the world’s biggest Star Wars fan, caught that one.

As far as the Pershing interlude, I have not watched CW or Rebels. I have not read any of the books since fourth grade when I read something about Han Solo. I watched the prequels and sequels, and don’t really care for them. I’m only vaguely aware that Thrawn is a blue dude from playing Rebellion many years ago.

That being said, I liked the interlude just from the perspective that lots of people and creatures fought and died to destroy the Empire, and it has been replaced by a crushing, soulless bureaucracy that doesn’t care about the individual.  A bureaucracy with reeducation camps and forced lobotomies.  A bureaucracy that knowingly employs shady informants that convince people to do things they wouldn’t ordinarily do, so that informant can get in even more good graces. Meanwhile, the bureaucracy continues to grind people up in the name of uniting the galaxy.

I know Disney is not staffed by secret libertarians, but watching this episode and Andor makes me wonder…

I love this shit.

It doesn't have to say anything about personal politics as much as set the stage for the rise of the First Order. There is serious effort to redeem bad story-telling in the new sequels.

Something as simple as a better opening crawl could have set the stage and tied those movies together, but since when as J.J. Abrams or Kathleen Kennedy demonstrated they understood how to weave a coherent story?

In the original EU before Disney. Thrawn used clones to build his forces. The Doctor was a scientist in the field of cloning. The program he was in was the Star Wars version Operation Paperclip. The Empire didn't want him spilling the beans on what he knew. So he was framed to be sent to the brain scrambling machine and she turned it up to 11 to turn him into a breathing doorstop.

Part of me thinks that ambition/desire to rule/leadership is the force behind the Dark Saber.  Mando does not desire leadership, and it is heavy on him.  Din was raised for it and finds it a light burden and a source of power.
