Several of the droids in the bar were of the R3-X series. RX-24 was the pilot of the Starspeeder 3000 - the shuttle from the Disneyland ride, "Star Tours." I grew up in Anaheim and used to have season passes to D-Land and rode on Star Tours many, many times.

I’ll admit that I was expecting him to mention needing that IG part to the Ugnaughts or having to disable an IG unit and drag it back to Navarro.
Two more episodes, I’m not really sure what direction they’ll go other than claiming Mandalore. I’m betting we’ll see Gideon, though. |

Found it interesting, that on episode select screen, all the other chapters have the name. Guns for hire, was not listed....

As a side note, wife has developed an interest in Bo Katan. Where does her arc start in TCW so I can get her some background knowledge? Wife didn't know that the moncalimari were called that so that describes how much she knows about SW in general.

Probably just a human error issue. As for the episode... Jack Black and Lizzo were more a distraction to the story than anything else. Would have been better served NOT using them. Bo getting the Darksaber is something I wanted...but not this way. While probably technically correct under Mando custom it just feels like a cop out. I agree with Axe that Bo should have challenged Din for it. It does not need to be a fight to the death...just a fair fight that does not look rigged. The Quarren Captain's command chair/tank was an interesting thing. |

Yeah, it was another sidequest episode, but I thought it was fun.
I liked how the continued world building, the outer rim, far from the reaches of the New Republic continues to do its own thing - crime lords, independent systems, separatists. The planet itself was pretty cool and a lot of it felt prequel is to me. The lower levels and 80s neon vibe felt like some of the clone wars episodes. And I enjoyed the whodunnit CSI styled episode. Click To View Spoiler I like the Boston Dynamics atlas test approach Din took with the super battle droids. Just kick it and see if it stays on task. LOL In the super battle droid chase, Din and Bo run past a bunch of brand new mods scooters just like the ones seen on BOBF. I know there's a lot of hate for all the celebrity cameos, I really didn't cere. I only recognized Jack Black and Christopher Lloyd. As far as the ending: Click To View Spoiler I think we all saw the handover of the Darksaber coming. At least they are not making Din and Bo enemies. I hate the trope of 2 heros meet and fight or have a misunderstanding and fight. Cap 3: Civil War got it right, but that wasn't happening here. Fenn Rau is still rumored to show up. He's got to be pretty old by now. Think he's a Mando warlord? Hiding out on Concord Dawn? I wonder if we get Sabine Wren and Clan Wren at any point? Outside of the Moff Gideon storyline, i really don't know what to expect from the next 2 shows. I really noticed the limitations of the volume in this episode - especially in the chase scene. I wonder if we are going to a surprise spin off show at the end of the season. The end of Season 2 surprised us with BOBF. I wonder if we'll get a Book of Bo Katan? I'd be down for that. |
|
|
I thought it was a decent episode but Lizzo and Black were annoying

The episode ended with them in the planet right? I wonder if he’ll see of those droid dudes have a part he’s looking for?

Probably the weakest ep of the series imho. It felt like a Clone Wars ep. And not a good one.
There were some high points: The admission that their “direct democracy” was a failure, that stupid communism doesn’t work, the Droid bar… Bo Katan getting the Darksaber. The effects were beautiful. But the rest was a lot of dark points. Useless side story that could have been rolled into another ep. |

It wasn't a terrible episode. However, I don't feel like much was accomplished other than the last 5 minutes of the show. The Dark Sabre hand off was lame. After all the talk of how it had to be "won" and that's the route they go?

Story needs to stay on main points. Short seasons suck. |

This was the Holiday Special episode. Some high points but when you say “With special guest: Beatrice Arthur and Art Carney” you have lost.

Always assume that the government wants to kill you, and you'll be far closer to the truth than assuming otherwise.

Click To View Spoiler It reminds me of how Voldemort was never the true master of the Elder Wand since he got the chain of ownership wrong. That was certainly a little more nuanced than what we got with the Darksaber, but fundamentally it is pretty similar. |
