or is it still meh with a much too small than promised aftermarket.
The basic ACR is going for about $1500ish now. I ask because I got to try out a fixed stock model in the fall of 2010. I must say the damn thing impressed me but the price and lack of aftermarket scared me off. So how are they now? |

Dana Beck at Templar Precision is doing amazing things with the acr.

I like the current production models with the lighter profile barrels, keep thinking about picking one up.

I really like mine. I never understood all the hate. The timing for fielding the ACR was problematic. When Remington bought the design from MagPul there was a real expectation of the ACR having full support with the various caliber conversions. Unfortunately that is about the time the Freedom Group (owners of Remington AFAIK) also bought Bushmaster and transferred them to the Ilion, NY facility. The ACR was set aside.
Recently I picked up a 6.8 SPC II conversion. I am impressed. The caliber switch over is the easiest compared to the IWI Tavor and Desert Tech MDR. I am looking forward to the promised 450 Bushmaster caliber conversion. As I said, I really like my ACR. |

I was a Masada fanboy to the extreme. I grabbed one of the first ACRs off the assembly line. I wanted to love it and defended it often. But the reality is, the best parts of the concept died during execution.
They’re ok, and yes, Bushmaster/Remington fucked up bringing the concept to market. |
|
I like them but the botched release was pretty bad and bushmaster still really isn’t doing much with them. I would pick on up if I saw it for 1200 or less to add to the collection

I'm one of the folks who bought one way back when they came out and paid full "enhanced" price and have never regretted it. Its a fine rifle... clean running, accurate, super reliable.

Beamy started a thread that wasn't about a pistol
Also, that AK mag lower posted earlier makes the ACR relevant to my interests. Does it take steel mags? |
|
Bought this one used a couple yrs ago , haven't regret it yet Attached File

Multi caliber platform that ended up a one trick pony? No thanks.

I built a 450 bushmaster and it tore itself apart after 5 rounds.

View Quote Direct from the manufacturer there are now 3 cals available. 5.56 6.8 .450 Bushmaster ITT, we see an aftermarket 7.62x39 conversion I’m reasonably certain I’ve seen 6.5G and 300 AAC. IMHO the biggest cons are weight and cost. |

Never had any interest in them from the beginning and still don't. I have much better rifles and no interest in this one.

Magpul has got to be haunted with regret like a mother who gave up her child at birth only for it to be abused and neglected its entire life.

I haven't seen one in the wild since... well since I saw them at their booth at shot show.
I don't even know someone who owns one. |

According to the high round count thread...every ACR's gas block has failed. Obviously, y'all should just throw your ACRs in the trash now.
|
|
Overpriced for me.
Did the stock not like cold weather? Trying to remember where i read about it. |
|

I'll bet that way more ACR stocks have been sold that rifles. There are adapters to attach it to most any gun and it looks great.

I liked the idea 10+ years ago. View Quote Front-heavy, need to re-zero every time you change barrels, abysmal aftermarket support, etc, etc... It's great as a suppressed SBR, but otherwise, it's a firm "meh." It took shrubmaster what, seven years to bring a pistol model to market? And there is only one arm brace available for it? Fuck that. |

I remember being at SHOT in Vegas when Shrubmaster rolled it out. I hung around and watched people come up excited, and then hear the 3000+ msrp and your see the smile fade to a snarled lip. Then the Hitler finds out movie knocked it out of the park. That was probably the best thing about the ACR.

Used one last year and loved it. Got a 6.8 conversion kit and had Templar Precision cut the barrel to 12 inches. Then Dan Haga Designs put a pistol brace on it.
SUPER easy to swap barrels because no tools are needed |
