Sea doo in question is 5 years old and MINT. I have the ability to leave it docked in front of a house I am staying in.
I’m terrified of it sinking overnight. Is my fear rational? |

I put mine on a lift.
I’d trailer it before leaving it in the water overnight. |
|
[#6]
Mine stays in the water all weekend and I take it out when we go home for the week.
It won't sink unless you have a leak? |
|
[#7]
So you are more terrified of it sinking overnight, when it is tied up, with no one on it, then you are when it is being used?
|
|
[#8]
I did a couple times. 79 Wetbike, 83 Wetbike. I don't recommend it. One was fine, the other killed the battery with the bilge pump.
|
|
[#9]
Are you concerned about it sinking or being stolen?
Because my friend left his in all season at the marina tied to the back of his boat and it was never a problem. It survived some pretty rough weather but she was still floating when we got there. |
|
[#10]
Get a drive up dock.
Lots of them here in the Gulf/Intercoastal |
|
[#11]
Paranoia is real kids.
Not judging op, I’m the same way. Sometimes it has been beneficial but mostly not. |
|
[#12]
yet another reason that frozen/flake water is better than liquid water. I've never had to worry about my snowmobile floating away.
|
|
[#13]
I have a Wave Runner. Left it tied up to a floating dock all last summer due to the lake being down for dam repairs.
|
|
[#14]
I usually leave mine in my lake all summer.
Never even considered it could be a problem. 12 years or so, never an issue. |
|
[#15]
how clean is the lake....lots of lakes look ok but tea stain overnight around the docks and milfoil rotting .

Quoted: how clean is the lake....lots of lakes look ok but tea stain overnight around the docks and milfoil rotting . View Quote The lake is pretty clean, and the hull was just ceramic coated. My primary fear is it letting a slow amount of water in from somewhere and sinking… Floating dock is great, but not an option at the moment |

You should be fine, just check on it to see if an excessive amount of water got in. If water get's in 2-3 inches just runt he bilge pump or start it to allow the little vacuum pump to empty the hull. |

View Quote The bilge pump is a Venturi, it does nothing when it’s not moving. The drive shaft has a carbon seal, sometimes they start leaking. I would put in a battery powered bilge pump if I was going to leave it in the water |

Get like 30 or 40 pool noodles and tie them together to make a raft. Park your Sea Doo on top of them. . |

I still have my 85 stand up 550, sits on hoist, would sink, plus lake charleviox is rough. My brother has 2 new sit downs that have automatic bilge pumps still keeps them on a hoist. I see people do it all the time at air bb houses for weekends.

On my private island, with the 2023 playboy playmate in a really good mood, yeah I left it in the fucking water.
Priorities should be prioritized. |

We used to take camping trips on our RX-DIs. Longest was 6 days/5 nights.
We'd camp at some sites that had super rocky beaches. We'd set up a couple anchor bags and a bungee line overnight. Never had an issue but I was always very worried they'd loose their lines and float away. At the cabin, never left them floating overnight. Always on the lift or pull em out the water. |

Quoted: It aint sinking OP View Quote Technically, mine didn't sink. The ass end was up, and you could still see the top of the seat. PITA to get it to a ramp and on to the trailer. Dried it out completely, and everything was fine. Kind of surprised at that. Another dude had a Wave Runner that didn't take an overnight swamping well. |
|
[#30]
Does your sea doo lose its flavor on the bed post overnight?
Gen x checking in….with a silent generation reference I wouldn’t leave one in seawater but lakes for a few days, meh ok |
|
[#31]
I'd pull it out just to keep it clean. I highly doubt it will sink.

Huh, no pics yet... let me help OP.
Make sure you tie a line good and tight for the overnight. It will be at the end of it in the morning. Attached File |

He loaned a brand new 2024 RXT ($20k machine) to his brother for a trip to the cabin last month. Sunk the boat, (apparently he struck a rock, punctured the hull and rather than pull out, just tied it to the dock and proceeded to get drunk) An ass kicking and insurance claim followed shortly thereafter.. |

No
Don't know about newer ones but older Sea Doo have a couple places to leak, shaft seal, VTS boot. The 951 2 cycle engines are already prone to problems. Add water to the bilge it's about 2k in parts for a top end and they suck to work on. Either taking it out or pulling up on shore is much easier and cheaper. |

if saltwater & have a lift, rinse it off with hose water and clean w soap if you care. saltwater will destroy metal & paint.
if it’s not yours or renting, do whatever owners suggest. |

When we are up north for the weekend we drop them in lake when we get there and take them out at the end of the week. These are older 90s/early 2000s models that have been well used over their lifetime. About every other year or so we have to replace a bilge pump on one of the four but it's usually something we can catch before they are launched. At worst we just beach it by the dock if it starts to look a little low and replace it there.

Quoted: Only if you want to file an insurance claim in the morning. View Quote The lake at our lake house crosses an Interstate Highway which has an unsupervised public boat ramp. Jet skies get stolen all the time at night. Bad guys untie the jet ski and tow it to the boat ramp, then drive off with it. |

Quoted: Some of them have bilge pumps, actually all the ones I've owned had pumps but they were always larger models. I don't know if the spark has an electric pump. Plenty of people here keep their SeaDoo's tied up to their boats at the marina and I've seen plenty of the small Spark SeaDoo's with algae on their hulls. I think the OP will be fine. View Quote I have a ‘22 Fishpro trophy. The electric pump was a dealer installed option that I declined. |

You will get fouling in your jet and pump eventually. Pop the seat and check for water in the bilge. Keep checking to see if its any higher than before. Monitor to see if bilge is pumping at random. Check it after it rains a few times, Keep an eye on while its raining. It "should be okay". Depending on the shoreline you can make a pretty cheap set of bunks on the shore but it will take some figurin' out to get it set right and will need a couple people to push off, but you can winch on.. You can get a caddy or dolly for shore use and rig it to a mower, 4 wheeler, or something, or a vehicle if you can get one down there. Attached File |

It will be fine. If its in for a few days, swim under with a car sponge and clear it up. Depending on temperature, shit will grow on the bottom, but can be kept clear with little effort if you wipe it every few days.

[#48]
put a few hundred pounds of water (but no more) in it while it is on the trailer. Don't put more than 200 pounds or you might deform the hull if it has a crappy trailer. Don't submerge the engine but the battery can get wet.
See if water is leaking out anywhere. It would also be a good time to throw in a little soap to clean up any oil or bilge debris for when you remove the plug(s.) |
|
[#49]
You can cut up a few pieces of 3" diameter PVC pipe and some T's and L's and make your own stand to slide it on to lift it out of the water a little bit. You don't need to go high at all. Assuming non tidal water not subject to storm surge.

Of course, we were religious with PM and whatnot. |
