I just saw someone type the year and "AD" after it.  I really haven't seen that done in a very long time, or if I have it just didn't hit me. But today it just dawned on me that the war on Christianity has pretty much wiped out AD, at least anywhere I see it.

Then I thought hmmm, Jews and Muslims think that the year is 2022, so ?  I know that Gina has it's own calendar (and I really don't fucking care or know what year they think it is)

I never type AD but I'm seriously considering.  And I know it's a little early, but I hope you have a Merry Christmas.

Maybe the dude didn’t want anybody to be confused.

I tend to omit it.

BCE on the other hand sounds like wokeness.

Dammit!
I never thought to write that in my police reports. My Sergeants would have loved that.

That's because BCE and CE are wokeness.

Of course!

I wouldn’t want anyone to get it confused with my emails from 2022 BC.

Huh. I thought Anno Domini was just the Latin equivalent of "common era" anyway. Learn something new every day.

had two years of latin in high school and never understood why there wasn't a latin phrase for BC.  Everyone just said it stood for "Before Christ".  I feel like they're not even trying.  Come on

The closer something is to Year 0, the more often it's used.  If you are talking about Year 100, it's important to specify AD or BC.  I see it often wrt historical references.

Since pedantry is something in which I excel....

BC follows the year
AD precedes it

So it would be AD 2022.

I always use "The year of our Lord".  If English was good enough for Jesus to write the Bible in, it is good enough for me.

I generally don’t use AD, because the context makes it unnecessary, but when I do use it, I put AD before the year.
