I feel ya OP. I used to work in an environment like that and I hated it. If you beat the shit out of one of them it makes them feel validated because they got you to crack. It just isn't worth it.
One of the reasons I like IT so much vs being in management or working as a mechanic is that the people are just different. I work with three nerds that talk about anime and DND all day, or what game they are gonna buy next, and it was one of the best changes I've made. No more people with a chip on their shoulder or a need to prove themselves the MANLIEST MAN ON THE PLANET. Maybe it's time for you to go independent? |

Car salesman are the absolute worst. Some are fine but many seem to be the scum of the earth.
Back when I was a young mechanic at my first new car dealership; I worked across the shop from a mechanic whose stalls where right next to a door leading to the main sales lot. There was a salesman that was always grabbing tools from that mechanic's tool boxes. The lazy salesman just didn't want to walk up front to the showroom to get tools to change plates. The problem was this salesman grabbed tools out of his box without asking and never seemed to bring them back. After repeated warnings, I watched one day as the salesman was rummaging through the guy's tool boxes again. The mechanic was on a creeper doing something to a car when this happened and he yelled at the salesman to get out of his tools. The sales weazel mumbled something but kept digging through the guy's tools. I watched as the mechanic rolled his creeper over to the salesman and smacked his clean white shoe with a hammer. The sales critter did a strange dance out of the shop and never rifled through anyone's tools after that. |
