Horrible way to go. He served multiple combat deployments and gets hit by a car while stateside and left for dead only for another car to hit him. Served with him in 2-108 Infantry Battalion. Always had a smile on his face and a good story to tell. Til Valhalla.

Godspeed brother, your on over watch now.

I lack the words, but he was a brother in arms and a true patriot. His greatest fear was that he wouldn't be able to serve his country.

LTC Michael McLaughlin 44, of Mercer, Pa.; assigned to the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania Army National Guard, Washington, Pa.; killed Jan. 5 when he was conducting a dismounted patrol at an Iraqi police recruiting station and an individual-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his position in Ramadi, Iraq.  He was the first officer of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard to be KIA since WWII

Lost on January 5, 2006.  Leaving behind a wife and two daughters.

Bank when I first joined the guard he was a Major at our Battalion HQ.  He visited out unit and decided to do a uniform inspection.  Being brand new and before i even went to basic I was standing at the back of the formation when he came to me I saluted (didn't know the squad leader was the only one who had to do it) and said something to the effect of "what's up" (was 17 and still in HS).  He cracked up and corrected me politely and later talked to me about my joining, just as two guys shooting the breeze.  Hell of a guy.

SrA Nathan Sartain & SrA Kcey Ruiz, 66th SFS/451st AEG

KIA 2 Oct 2015, Jalalabad, AFG, when the C-130J they were aboard crashed immediately after takeoff.

I had gone through FAST training and pre-deployment with them at Ft. Bliss a few months prior. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was at Ali-Al-Salem AB in Kuwait when our team lead called us in to tell us that a plane had crashed in AFG with people that we all knew on board. Just a shitty couple of days that followed when we learned it was them.

I came across this old copper bracelet while cleaning out my basement.  I knew I had this P.O.W./M.I.A. bracelet in my possession but have never been able to find it. Today I wanted to remember the man.

Today it pains me to say the man who I looked up to my whole life! I was always told by family that I should have been his son!

Thomas Gibb Sgt USMC!

Wounded in Vietnam as apart of a Marine CAP unit on July 19, 1970! Left for dead as he had an M-79 blow up in his hand! Barrel of the M-79 when thought his head and he lost his left arm! Was told by military Doctor that he would not live past 30 years old!

He was 18 or 19 at the time! July 19, 2020! 50 years after he should have died he has taken his final breath! Passed away from pneumonia!

He is going to be buried at Arlington cemetery! I just wish I could be there for him!

God speed and hope you are in peace, SGT Gibb!!! This date will always be remembered by me!

Edited= My Uncle and more importantly MY BROTHER as a Marine and combat veteran!
